No we were talking about Mett, but JJ also has that possibility if he is cleared. He can always say he hurt his foot in a bar fight.
The misconception with rain is that it is bad for passing and good for running. It's actually the opposite. your receivers know where they are running and the defenders have to react. They tend to fall while your receivers stay upright. Running backs tend to fumble a lot more, so merely sticking with a running game can be an utter disaster in rainy conditions. Not to mention, they slip and fall trying to make their cuts. I hope we're ready to throw the ball on Thursday night if it's raining.
OK .. point taken. I've seen Relf in limited games ... does't seem to impress me much as a passer. How do you see Lee stacking up against Relf in a pass shootout??
I think we've seen the last of Jordan Jefferson in a Tiger uniform. He may end up with a bum rap after everything gets sorted out legally, but I don't see him coming back next year, especially if Mettenberger continues to get better this year and into next season.
CLM will be hard pressed to take the starting position away from Lee if he keeps winning. And he will be even more hard pressed to give it back to JJ when you have a talent like Mett waiting in the wings.
We won't get into a pass shootout, but we better keep it somewhat balanced, especially if it's raining. Relf won't do well against our D Thursday night. I have no clue how successful Lee will be. I suspect it will be somewhere between the Oregon and Northwestern games. If that's the case, LSU will win easily.
I'd settle for Lee being 10-of-17ish for 175 yards, 2 TDs. Just manage the offense. Nothing fancy. Let the O-line, Ware, Ford and the defense take care of the rest.
It was my understanding that throwing the ball in the rain isn't dangerous on the receiving end, but on the passing end. Far easier for a ball to slip out of a QB's hand in the rain during a pass than to hand the ball off. With as much as you're afraid of Lee passing the ball I thought you'd want 90/10 split handing off the ball in the rain.
I get what you are saying, except for the fact that you say the Moo U game is "do or die" for Lee. How was the fact that this kid hung around and stayed at LSU after what he went through not "Do or Die" for Lee How was every chance we gave him last year, when he came in, steped up to the challenge and saved our ass 4 times, not "do or die" Or the fact that he managed the Oregon game as good as I have seen an LSU QB do in quite some time, not "do or die" Or the fact that he did exactly what any good QB is expected to do when you beat up on a "little sisters of the poor school" by completing 90% of his passes on 10 tosses for 133 yards and a score - Not "Do or Die" He has earned his stripes, Moo U is not "do or die" for Lee. Not IMO
