and there are so many threads about them crying over their blow-out loss against us...some think we're not great but most see us as a good quality team and a definite NCAA Tournament team.. this MNC has been a double edged sword for us....i wouldn't give up anything...let me repeat that before i get blased...i would NOT give up anything in the world for this chance against OU, but our poor bball team is getting no love we have an awesome team this year and probably at least the next 3 or 4 years with the signing of Big Baby to replace Lloreda we play Southern Miss--a quality conference usa team--saturday at 3pm...let's try and pack the pmac Geaux Tigers
Yah we looked good against Utah, especially considering the LONG layoff. I have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly some of the freshman have stepped up. Jaime Lloreda is just a beast this year! He's added alot of quickness and much better ball handling than last year. If he could only hit free throws!!!
I think the way bass played while lloreda was out was very impressive. How good this team will be depends on how wll they come together as a young unit. I have high hopes for them.
we're gonna run into problems if we aren't able to hit open jump shots. i'm also disturbed with the lack of easy shots created by motion offense. i just loved watching the last two years so much. they were awesome. look at the boxscores and the number of assists are way down. i guess it'll take a while for the young guys to learn.
I thought the team looked pretty good too. My biggest concern honestly watching the game was Minor.. the guy looked like a real showboater out there and seemed to be trying to show Brady up at the end of the game by trying to get himself some points instead of running the clock out. He looks like he's got some real talent but Brady had better rein him in.
Funny you mention Minor trying to grab some points at the end... Watching the end of the game on TV, the cameras focused in on Brady as he was instructing Minor just before he subbed into the game. It looked to me that Brady was instructing him to dribble the length of the floor and lay it up. Anyone got the game on tape? Watch that conversation and the way that Brady swung his arms. When I saw it the first time, I was wondering "what in the heck is Brady telling him to do?". After the play happened, I really think that Brady told him to do it.
You must be kidding aren't you? We had 51 seconds when he put him in after he put up 2 bad shots and lost his man to a layup earlier in the game. He was supposed to run the spread offense and he immediately goes down and throws up a crap shot. I think the line Brady used was you stupid #$#)%@%# under his breath. He is very talented but has a ways to go to get playing time before Whipple at point guard this year. Time will tell when he will blossom which I hope will be by mid season. Anyone notice the incredible crossover dribble that he has? Jason Williams had the best I ever saw at Duke and Tack's resembled that on one play the other night.
I'm not kidding. Trust me, it wierded me out at the time and it is still wierding me out. Very very strange. I just can't fathom anyone doing that without being instructed. Plus, the cameras didn't go back to Brady after the play (which they would have if Brady was blowing a gasket). That freaked me out also. No doubt that he has the skills, but I don't think that Minor will survive the season if this strangeness continues.
