In the words of Nick Saban after the Florida loss in 2003, "It's time to move on". I just can't do it, especially after last night. Last night was a perfect example of why LSU should be undefeated right now. No, I am not referring to the refs who screwed us at Auburn. I am referring to the LSU coaching staff (excluding Bo Pelini) who screwed LSU. Last night Steve Spurrier played Auburn and should have won. On just about every play in the second half the offense would setup with 5 wideouts and Auburn could not stop them. If LSU would have opened up their offense, we would have beat Auburn by at least 2 touchdowns. USC's talent on offense is not even close to what LSU has and they were able to pick apart Auburn . It just pisses me off that LSU has the possibility of winning out if they can beat Florida and it will be the Auburn game could haunt them at the end of the season. In the words of Nick Saban after the Florida loss in 2003, "It's time to move on". To me it means that it is time to move on to another head coach, because Miles will bring this program down.
You obviously didn't watch the game last night. Do you disagree that LSU is a better team than USC? Do you disagree that LSU is a better team than Auburn? Do you disagree that Auburn has a better coaching staff than LSU? (Against good team this is where games are won and lost) Do you disagree that if we opened up our offense and used our very skilled wide receivers more and depended less on the running game that we would have beat Auburn? Do you think it was smart for LSU to continue to run the ball at the end of the Auburn game when it was getting us nowhere? Look at what USC did against Auburn. They made us look like we have no offensive talent. You must be one of those guys who can't come up with a decent response, so you try to be funny. Miles is a horrible SEC coach. Most of his wins have been because of the talent on the football field and not his coaching.
i think playing at soutch carolina or playing at home in their biggest game of the year is a little different for Auburn. And speaking of moving on, your quoting Nick Saban.
It's hard to express just how little I respect an opinion that advocates firing a coach who has been here less than a year-and-a-half and happens to be sporting an 82% winning record, won a Divison title, blew away a top-10 team in the bowl game, and currently has our team ranked in the Top-10 . . . again. What decent coach would be interested in coming to LSU if that record doesn't cut it? Did you ever think that far ahead? Anybody that assumes that LSU has some kind of holy right to win every game needs serious help.
Alright, I'm not defending anyone, but look at what Saban took over compared to what Miles took over. This team (or last year's team) is leaps and bounds over what Saban took it from. And, to be fair, we also had Booty at QB. Another thing... Since moving over here to California 5 years ago, I have this new found respect for Louisiana teams, despite their record. I think it's just me wanting to support home where there is absolutely no LSU, ULL, La. Tech, Tulane, etc. merchandise. I'm the only Louisiana guy I know here. I started to follow ULL, ULM and La Tech more closely, and I can actually call myself a fan, but it's more like a fan of a pro team, not like LSU. I intend on going to the San Jose State vs. La Tech Game in October. However, my blood is purple and gold and always will be. My passion for LSU is uncomparable, despite our past and future. I will never wear a paper bag over my head, no matter how bad it has gotten or may get, but I support home teams. Why is this looked down upon? It seems, ULL fans get the worst of it. Just curious.
Quotes from BR Talk Radio hosts: "Why is it that the fans are always one step ahead of the coaching staff?" - Jimmy Ott "Miles has a stubborn O-Lineman mentality and refuses to adjust his gameplan to the situation at hand" - Buddy Songy These are people that have covered the LSU Tigers football team for tens of years now, including covering practices and scrimmages (albeit under different coaching staffs). They have more insight into Miles' coaching ability and prowess based on their history of covering practices, games, and scrimmages than people like you could ever hope for. The statement "We must run the football" is ludicrous given what had happened in the Auburn game. Calling for his firing is indeed ludicrous, but I think there is more than enough criticism to be served out
I agree. Most teams do not fire a coach that loses a close game to a top 5 team on the road in a hostile environment. I really don't see Auburn losing more than 1 game this year. Every top tier team has a game where they play down to the level of their competition.
I'm all over this Cajun. I moved from Louisiana about 6 years ago, have lived in TN, Chicago and now Atlanta. There is a whole different level of pride now that you represent your home in "enemy territory". I caught myself actually pulling for SLU in a game a few weeks back.
