I am ashamed to admit it but when I woke this morning I didn't remember that it was. I was worried about having to go into the office today to finish up a legal brief that I have been working on and longing for Sunday morning when our third child will be born, anticipating a brief reprieve from it all on Friday with the LSU v Ark. game. Then it hit me...it was Thanksgiving day and we were heading over to Mom's for Thanksgiving dinner. It was then that I had one of those quiet moments where I thought how shameful it was to have ever forgotten. I then reflected on just how fortunate I truly am.....a loving and beautiful wife, a son and a daughter and a new born due any day, my health and that of my family, a succesful law practice, good friends and family, a roof over our heads and LSU season tickets to Football and Basketball. On the other hand, a large segment of the population of La. considers themselves lucky just to be alive. Hundreds of thousands have lost everything, their homes, all of their worldly possessions, their livelyhood, their childrens toys, their cars, and, some have lost friends and family and others have paid the ultimate price and lost their lives. Not to mention the ultimate price being paid daily by the brave men and women of the U.S. armed forces and their families...true heroes. We truly have much to be thankful for. It is so easy to take everything we have for granted....but for the Grace of God, it could be all of us that are homeless or living in a shelter with our family and living off of the generousity of others. And, that's exactly the point, let's be eternally thankful and be generous in our Thanks and Giving. God Bless and Geaux Tigers. Sincerely, Purple & Gold :usaflagwa
Great post! and great to live in the US with all the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted, including myself. Have a great thanksgiving everyone!
