http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/sports/107053302450160.xml Well, Tubbs has Lowder in his corner, for now. So that buys him another year at least. But the Alumni Ass'n. is not happy, and they want some people fired, namely university president William Walker and AD David Housel. And a few trustees, too. I'm so glad we don't have a situation like that at LSU, where one man, one booster, one trustee, whatever, wields that much power. What Lowder says, goes at Auburn University. But power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This whole situation has been quite embarassing for the university, but I think they regret it only because they got caught.
Well, Jetstorm, it seems that Lowder is still the "Teflon Don" on the plains out there... Housel and Walker are both pawns in Lowder's chess game. They're taking the flack, but whose plane were they on talking to Petrino? Who do you REALLY think was the impetus behind that clandestine meeting? They were on Lowder's plane, and the President and AD are both Lowder's pawn. You need to go read the book Bragging Rights: A season in the SEC. The guy brings new meaning to the term Machiavellian... He's got everyone looking at his right hand, which holds Walker and Housel, while it was his left hand moving the pawns and positioning Tuberville to get beheaded in all of this... You have to look at the source. Walker and Housel are mere mouthpieces. Lowder is the cancer in that situation. Remove him, and things improve LIGHT YEARS on the Plains. For our sake, let's hope they go on suffering for awhile, though...
this situation sounds very familiar to one here in Dallas...the SMU fiasco. We all know what happened to SMU. Maybe the NCAA should investigate Auburn for more serious improprieties.....
I think Charles Hannegriff said it best... ...on the LSU post-game last Friday: We, as LSU Tiger fans, should get down on our knees every night and thank The Good Lord that Bobby Lowder is an Auburn supporter.
TE, Oh I know who's really the master puppeteer at Auburn, as does everyone else. It goes without saying that he manipulated the whole situation, and the only reason he is backing off now is because the whole incident brought national attention (and embarassment) to Auburn. Lowder does not like the harsh glare of the spotlight. He prefers gladhanding amongst good-ol' boys in the backroom, away from any media attention or open inquiry. The only reason Tommy Tuberville is still head coach at Auburn is like I said, he got caught. At least we know now that there are some limits to Lowder's arrogance, and that he is unwilling to stand on the rooftops, beat his chest and say, "I am KING and GOD in Auburn, Alabama!" Because if he had gone ahead and canned Tuberville and been among those on the private jet to Louisville, and come back with Petrino, that would be the message he would be sending, and all doubt would be removed as to who calls the shots in Auburn. As is, we at least know he is uncomfortable with having that perception going around. But it's all a charade. We all know the truth.
I think you are WAY off on this one, unless you meant the "big wigs" and not the AU faithfull. I for one have wanted Lowder out for years, and Housel too if all he is gonna be is a yes man for Lowder. And as far as this quote is concerned....I really hope you were only talking about football. I can fully understand you wanting our football team to suffer, but the entire University?? I dont understand your thinking on that one. The rest of the stuff I agree with, and so do most other AU people. Lowder is a big malignant tumor who is just going to make things worse. But no one I know can think of a way to get rid of the man. Except for some sort of "unfortunate accident". WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
There's a very simple way to get rid of him. Somebody over there in a position of authority needs to sack up and show some character and tell Mr. Lowder to stick his $200k/year where the sun don't shine...the university doesn't NEED that kind of "help". In short, ban the man from the program. Losing that money may hurt in the short run, and that's probably what will prevent this from ever happening...but over the long haul, Auburn would be immeasurably better off for having lost this guy. He's embarrassed your university on a national level with this little stunt. That CAN'T be helping your recruiting.
What profession is Louder in? Does he have pictures of people in certain situations? Can he put a hit out on someone? or both? I just cannot believe that no one will stand up to him. Also AUmorgan I am pretty sure that Jetstorm is talking about the big wigs. They were the ones offering up all the apologies when all this broke
