LOL! Thanks for the laugh! Let's hope he stays. He'll never be the Kingfish of Florida, but he sure as heck is the Kingfish of Red Stick and Louisiana! Maybe he didn't know how much he loved us until he seriously thought of leaving us. Laissez Bon Temps Roulez! Vive la Guerre!
For those who feel like Saban would be abandoning LSU or that he is just looking out for himself, realize how hard this decision is for him. I mean, he's a football coach. The pinnacle of his profession is the NFL. The Dolphins are offering him the farm as well as lifetime financial security. It would be a lock cinch no brainer for 99% of the coaches out there. Let's not be too tough on the guy.
Not trying to be too tough, just wanted to lighten the mood a bit. Regardless of his decision, I wish Saban all the best.
I agree. RIGHT NOW. Nick Saban is deciding whether to abandon his life-long dream of coaching in the NFL for the sake of making his wife and daughter happy. If I were him, I'd think of all the boys in Iraq who left behind wives and daughters in order to serve Uncle Sam. Some of them ain't coming back, and now there are widows and fatherless children. The point is that fathers are often called to sacrifice for something greater than themselves, whether it be for their family or for their country. I still want Nick to stay.
Gotcha SabanFan With all of the supposedly negative ramifications (recruiting etc) of the protracted decision, I believe there are just as many positives. For LSU to be front and center in the news for the last week certainly doesn't hurt LSU's image. In addition, many people that aren't familiar with LSU have to be asking the question. "What is he thinking about, this should be a no brainer to take the Miami job." The fact that it obviously is a painstaking decision for Saban speaks volumes about LSU.
Even Trev is impressed. Tonight he said that, if Saban goes, the new coach inherits a loaded team with a rabid fan base and an overall great situation.
