Assuming USC vs Oklahoma in the Sugar and LSU in another BCS bowl is it possible for LSU to finish #1 in the BCS? If USC wins, LSU blows out whoever, the AP puts us #1, the computers keep us ahead of USC and USC just has the Coaches poll (they have to put USC #1). Our strength of schdule would be close, if UGA wins their bowl our quality win points may move back up to -.4. Is it possible that we would have a lower BCS number then USC after the bowls or is their a rule to prevent this?
I don't think that they release any BCS rankings after the game. The winner is automatically the BCS champion and ESPN Coaches Poll #1. The AP Poll, however, could choose a different team as #1. But if they already have the AP #1 vs. #2, and the #2 team wins, I'd imagine that the AP would rank the #2 as #1.
The BCS does not release a poll after the bowls ... its job is to determine the top 2 teams. The MNC is determined by the AP and Coaches Poll ... the Coaches poll must select the winner of the BCS championship game. The AP can select whomever they want.
If there is no BCS after the bowls, then someone needs to do the math and figure out what it would have been if all of the above happens.
If USC beats OU, then USC goes to #1 in all 7 computer polls. There is no question about that. Oklahoma is so far ahead of #2 in the 7 computer polls, USC beating them would ensure them #1 in all 7. Game over at this point.
If we do not go to the Sugar Bowl, I feel the best we could hope for is #2. I think that if USC beat OU, they would still place OU @ #2 in the polls. Plus, if we don't go to the Sugar I want OU to slaughter the Trojans, and hope that we put the beating on whoever we play, so it would create some controversy.
there is a BCS poll after the bowls...remember LSU finished #7 or 8 in the final BCS after we beat Illinois 2 years ago.
