It seems preposterous to believe that Auburn is really consciously getting favorable treatment from the officials. I think there is almost no chance that it would be from bribes, but I think there is at least some chance that officials who are Auburn fans have given them preferential treatment.

First, there was the call where our guy got flagged for landing on an Auburn player after jumping on the extra point attempt, which guaranteed them that win and pretty much the edge in winning the SEC West.

Then, there were the many subtle and close calls that all seemed to go against us in this year's game. At the time, most people assume that the LSU v. Auburn game is the SEC West championship and that it will be close so these calls make a huge impact on the SEC.

Then tonight, I hear that Florida's only loss was on a very controversial fumble call at Auburn.

And, I have heard about other calls going Auburn's way that were very controversial. I just can't remember the particular examples at the moment.

I know that LSU gets calls too sometimes. Like the no call in the Alabama game a couple of years ago that let us win that one.

I know conspiracy theories are usually stupid.

I know LSU had other chances to win the game on the field and not leave it in the hands of the officials, but that is bogus to me. Auburn is a good team, and it is not LSU or Florida's fault that the games are close. We shouldn't have to beat Auburn soundly so we don't have to worry about the officials stealing the game.

So vote: Does Auburn receive an unusual (more than normal SEC teams) amount of help from the officials in SEC games?

I wouldn't put anything past a toothless hillbilly. That's all I am going to say about it.

What's done is done. It sucked at the time. It sucks right now. Let's just hope that we are still looking good for either the Rose OR the Sugar, and that we don't somehow end up with the Big Stiff.

I don't think the SEC referees are dishonest or biased. I think they are simply not as competent as they could be. This was Auburn's year to get the calls. Next year it could be us with all of our big home games. Who knows? There is no conspiracy.

The SEC makes good money on these football teams every year. There is no need to utilize part-time, second-rate officials. The SEC could pay top dollar and get the best referees in the country--professionals-- including the replay officials who should not be part of the home press box gang, but one of the traveling officials.

Pay them well and ruthlessly dismiss them for repeated bad calls.
