Are you sure this is right I thought that SD took Leaf first and then Peyton. As a matter of fact I am sure Leaf was # 1 maybe I am wrong but I don't think so.
Well, you are indeed mistaken. http://www.iis-sports.com/draft/round1.html http://www.redeyesports.com/NFLdraft1998.htm http://www.hickoksports.com/history/nfldraft1998.shtml
Leaf was the overall #1 and SD chose Leaf. a few years later SD traded Vick away. did they trade Vick and then get LT? if so....good freakin choice.
Manning was picked #1. Chargers passed on Vick for Tomlinson. not a bad pick in itself. now will they snag another bust @ QB this time around....
OK. I thought it was Leaf who was taken first, but that was proven incorrect. All that aside, I still think Ben R is the pick of the litter.
yes, i was wrong. forgive my stupidity. http://football.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4256 but i still stand on my LT is better than Vick statement.
arguable actually on Vick although the avg NFL viewer is so much into vick-sanity that they wouldnt consider it. biggest thing is RBs dont last long and before a team could build around LT his career may be over. on the other hand, vick could be there for the next15 yrs bringing championships. you always go for the superstar qb as a rule....and thats why nor can i argue. thats why fitz or mw wont be chosen over manning. Id take ben over these guys for that reason.
i agree totally tirk. but the thing is.... they've been in the league the same amount of time. how many games has LT sat out compared to Vick? generally QBs do outlast RBs, but how much diffrent is Vick from a RB? i think Vick is one of the most talented players to ever play in the NFL, but what good is that when he's on the bench all the time? im looking at it from a GM standpoint. i would have taken LT and then tried to get a good pocket passer.
