According to LSUSports.net, he is 5'10, 219... He wasn't this big the last two years was he? I think he needs to slim down to under 210, or even 205 and he will get his bounce back.

He needs to get his feet flat on the ground in the backfield and find the open holes. I don't think the weight is a problem. He is always one of the first guys down the field on KO coverage.

Nothing wrong with him...if he carried the ball 20 times a game he'd be as 'good' as ever. He is simply not the starter, so he gets less carries. Lack of yards doesn't mean he's not as good, it just means lack of carries.

No he obviously isn't as good as his freshman year.

    Very true.

Although, lots of his yardage that season came on long runs that distorted his actual yards per carry. UGA II 80+ and 70+, Ole Miss 50ish, OU 80. If you take away those runs, then his year wasn't that awesome.

He was like Barry Sanders with his runs: -2, 0, 1, -1, 58. That equals 5 rushes for 56 yards which isn't a bad average but not good for a team that needs yards every play.

He is the same, it is not 'obvious'...the only thing obvious is that he's not getting the same amount of carries. He's always been a #'s runner...as the guy above pointed out, he gets small gain after small gain, then busts one. If he only gets 4 carries a game, then chances are his avg will be low that game. If he got 20 per game, he'd be right up there with his freshman year avging 100yds. If JA gets hurt, we'll find that out..and everyone will claim he changed something to be good again.

He has the same overall speed, but his first step is so much slower. He needs to play at 210.

I never thought JV was that great of a back. In '03 he had gaping holes to run through. He's not a hard runner, doesn't have break away speed and definitely cant hold on to the football. Another downfall for him is he's not dedicated in what he does. I hear he is in the bars drinking every single night.
