We all know it takes some luck to win the mythical championship. We may or may not get there. However, with all the talent on this team and a very favorable schedule we certainly should win the conference. Anything less will have me concerned about the future of this program.
Miles won't be fired if he doesn't win a championship (SEC is really what matters, NC is a bonus) this year, and he's recruited very well so the team should be good for some time to come, so no - it's not now or never. We will have other great teams (although '08 probably won't be one), and he'll have other chances to win a championship.
I don't see any cause for "concern".. I'd be concerned if we lost to Mississippi State because we're concentrating on media hype rather than the task at hand. Quit looking at the whole forest... we have this one tree in front us that needs to be chopped down right now.. :thumb:
Of course he won't be fired after this year. My point is the offense should be good enough and he may never field a defense as good and deep as this one. This year is set up perfect for him.
WTH??? we have our first game in two days... and this is the post I get to read... man... GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Back-to-back 11-win seasons finishing in the top-5 has bought Les some slack. He's under zero pressure and doesn't have to fear for his job. Hell, it took four losing seasons to cost Curley his job and a 2-8 season to cost Dinardo his. No way on earth is Les winning less than 9. Now, the schedule is everything for LSU because of the quirk that gives us our tough opponents all at home in odd years and on the road in even years. This is an odd year and LSU has gone to the SECCG in 2001, 2003 and 2005. It will be disappointing if we don't return to the SEC Championship game this season, because it will be tough to do next year. But Les is safe.
Good lord, back to back 11 win seasons and we see this posted before the first game. Red’s right, Les is safe. ldskule:
08' team may be better than most anticipate. RP coming in as QB, Toliver having a year under his belt, KW will be in his third year and Murphy his second. O-line will have another year under their belts. Our D has loads of talent waiting in the wings. Hopefully they can mature fast.:yelwink2:
