I was reading in the paper and listening to the radio today, and these bozos still defend marcus randall. Dubois was looking for any excuse he could find for randall. He blamed the o line, he blamed weather, he blamed it all on everyone but randall. The show at 11 on 1210 am, blake and scrap, blake i guess doesnt like randall, yet scooby jr. is in love with this guy. He also put it all on the other players except randall. This is coming from a guy who admitted that he doesnt care whether LSU wins or loses. What gives him the right to say who the qb should be? His opinions suck, russell all the way
i can see that too...but it seems to me that these local people, scrappy, dubois, they are so in love with him and they just dont see it. they dont see that he is horrible
Their are alot of people on this forum that love Randall as well and want him to start no matter what. I'm an LSU fan and I will let the coaches decide, I like Marcus and think he's a wonderful person and wish him the best whether he's the starter or not. If you were to ask me however, I think he won't be starting for very long unless something changes starting this next game such as a huge game from him this week.
i agree there...did anyone hear any of the comments the people on the radio have made about him? Scrap also said that he doesnt know if russell could handle the pressure of an sec road game.
Mike Godfrey said that he's been watching JR since he was a freshman in high school and that he is calm and collective. You couldn't ask him to come in a tougher situation than he did the other night if you ask me.
Look, the media LOVES a QB controversy. We know that it is good for business. So, they analyze the game (like some misguided fans) and point out that Russell's completion percentage was no better than Randall's. Well, you'd have to be blind to miss the fact that Russell went 0-5 in his first EVER college action before getting a rhythm. From that point on, JR was 10-22 with 2 TD passes, 0 ints, and at least a couple of dropped passes in game where we never had a lead or a running game. Russell is a horse who, like Rohan Davey, is more of a game player than a practice p-layer. He showed rare calm and presence, especially in the pocket under pressure, that a freshman normally doesn't have. Saban knows Russell is the guy. But, he needed to give Randall ever shot for paying his dues and being a team elader this past offseason. Saban wanted to bring Russell along slowly just in case he couldn't meet expectations. But, now we all know who the best QB on the roster is right now. Not only do we want to see Russell start, but WE NEED him to start. Trust me, the difference between Randall and Russell is the difference between a Sugar Bowl and a Peach or Indy Bowl bid this season.
Randall showed heart and guts coming back in after Russells cramps. I think he has the heart of a Tiger no matter if he starts or is third string. He simply wants whats best for the time and I admire the hell out of that. If you remember everyone was whining about wanting Josh Booty in over Rohan Davey a few years back. Anyone care to remember how those two worked out? Wait for it...Russell will prove he is a capable QB. :lsug:
I don't think Russell himself is mentally ready to step in right now. He will certainly get more game experience as time goes on and will be THE MAN. Why not be patient and let the chips fall into place. I bet there are things that the coaches see very well that the fans don't know about the players. I know there is a lot of anxiety on the part of the fans to want the Tigers to continue to win (and who doesn't). I see this year as the year for the team to reorganize itself and find its' new identity. I believe the expectation of going into another bowl game is too distracting at this point, and can be counterproductive. The team with the multitude of young talented players MUST "rebuild" itself one game at a time, and not let the un-necessarily high expectations hurt them. ________ URRACO
