Is it just me or is the national media trying to love up Ole Miss more than usual?

I know some would say that Ole Miss has a heisman contender and that they are undefeated. However, LSU is definitely ahead of them in polls and word of mouth. Yet I am seeing a few of the national media(Herbstreit and Bowden from ESPN and I think Mandel from CNNSI) who are saying that LSU can and probably will be beaten at Ole Miss. Do these people just think our defense isn't as great as the stats or are they trying to not believe that LSU is now a nat'l contender.? Either way I think that they will be made to believe very soon :D

Whether they believe it or not, we will prove it on the field.

Face it, Ole Miss hasn't had things going this good for well over 15 years.

And there was a thread on this very board a few weeks back speculating about how bad Ole Miss would fall apart and self-destruct.
Since then they have beaten South Carolina and Auburn.

Now Ole Miss stands just one win against LSU away from winning the SEC West outright, because if they beat LSU, they can lose to Miss State and still be the SEC West champs.

While I think that the media is just playing up to the showdown issue, if I were Saban and crew, I would be preparing for an all out war. Ole Miss will prepare two solid weeks for this game and will leave it all on the field.

In other words, the LSU offense had better show up and be ready to put some serious points on the board.

Yeah, even Shepard Smith on "The Fox Report" is getting his two cents worth in. He must be grad of Ole Miss or something. Last night during his closing remarks before Bill O'Reilly, he said that Ole Miss was 6-0 and was saying "come on tigers, we'll see you in two weeks", or something to that effect. I instantly told the wife that I would never watch "The Fox Report" again!!! Just kidding. Shep was good during the war coverage and is totally unbiased when it comes to news reporting. Geaux Tigers!!!

I gotta go with Chip on this one: its a showdown with NC implications. It's gonna get hyped. Ole Miss is a great team, but I have to say that the hype is all going to be for nothing. This is a team that tends to beat teams by pouring on the points. Their D isn't going to beat anybody. South Carolina scored 40 on em, Texas Tech put up 49, Memphis score 34, and even Vandy put up 21. LSU's D will keep their offense in check enough to let our O do its job.

Yeah, Shepard Smith is an Ole Miss grad and he really talks up the Rebels on his 2pm to 3pm broadcast. He' s been doing it all year, especially in a chatty segment called "Skinnerville" at about 2:25 pm. Before the Auburn game he looked into the camera , pounded his fist on the table and said " We're coming to get you Tuberville". He also actually attends all the games...I think the Rebels will be outmanned against LSU if you have the talent and depth you say you do. This is not a real talented Ole Miss team. Its Eli's game management that has helped us win . That may not be enough against a really superior team

I don't think the sugar bowl wants LSU there because of money. LSU fans wouldn't spend as much money in the hotels as USC and Okla would.
    Just my paranoia talking here.

Sugar Bowl doesn't have a choice, they take BCS #1 and #2.

I like that Ole Miss is getting hype. They may not be much better than Bama but the national media will give us credit for a win in Oxford and I think it's the type of game that could really help us in the polls. If USC struggles to defeat UCLA that week, I could see us sneak closer to getting that #2 spot. By the end of the season our SOS will be close to USC's. We just need to be ranked #2 in one or both of the human polls.
