...that Oklahoma St. has completely fallen apart without Les Miles?

They lost some of his expertise, but they also lost quite a bit of players too...

Miles knew the right time to leave

They lost some good players, but I'm confident that Miles would have had them better than where they are right now if he were still coach. That is good, but still insignificant because we have no idea how good of a coach their old OC is.

I guess it can be looked at two ways.

Either Miles didn't recruit well enough to leave them with the talent to be successful... Or, Miles was the whole reason they were winning and without him they became helpless.

the problem was their new idiot coach decided to switch philosophy midseason away from the talent at hand. it was like urban meyer west.

it is pretty much nothing reflective of miles except he was a better hc than the other moron.

Les could not get the talent needed to be a powerhouse year in and year out, he had to battle for recruits against Texas and Oklahoma. He has the resources to be succesfull and LSU.

Les hasn't even had a full year top reruit. Let's see how he fares on his own accord. Saban had laid the foundation last year...

My husband used to work with Mike Gundy's (the new HC) father, and has known him for a long time. He used to go watch both Mike and younger brother Cale (an asst coach at OU) play FB in high school. I have nothing personal against Mike and wish him well at OSU. Especially since I am an OSU fan with parents that are OSU grads.

That being said, Gundy has a lot of growing to do as a coach. As Tirk said, Mike has not only been wishy washy on philosophy, he has played around with the the positions more than some baseball coaches do. The QB situation is getting pretty frustrating to fans, so God only knows how frustrating it must be to the players.

As les4prez pointed out, Miles recruited very well at OSU, bring kids to Stillwater that would have never even given OSU a thought. That he did that while recruiting against OU and the Texas schools, he did a really good job at recruiting.

Even my bitchy sister made the comment that she would love to have Les back. For someone who was really mad at him for leaving in the first place and has spent the last 9-10 months making snide comments, I was stunned that she would admit that!
