Let's Get the facts straight. _ The Facts _ Some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One person recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point:__ We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember._ It was started by terrorists on 9/11._ Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims. FDR led us into World War II._ _Germany never attacked us: _Japan did. From 1941-1945,_ 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 _per year. _ _ _ Truman finished that war and started one in Korea._ North Korea never attacked us._ From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333_ per year. _ John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. _ Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,__ 58,000 _lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent._ __Bosnia never attacked us.__ He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.__ Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year. _Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home _ Worst president in history? Come on!
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,__ 58,000 _lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. You said it all here SabanFan. IMO, LBJ was the worst president in history.... He had our soldiers killed while bombing trees and empty forests. The Democrats time and time again have ran wars the way they are lost. Then the Wesley Clark statement on the Klinton white house approving bombing targets and wanting to stop the bombing because it would've overshadowed Al Gore's campaign.
The worst president was Buchanan. The country litereally fell apart during his term. I think the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act exempt LBJ from the 'worst' designation. But LBJ was pretty bad--after all, he ramped up domestic spending and created a massive new entitlement program in the midst of a major war effort.......oh, crap.
In LBJ's defense, he was more interested in human rights issues but he was getting bad advice from his military advisors which prolonged the war and hampered his efforts on the domestic front. He was a good man caught in a bad situation not of his making.
Gerald Ford was the worst President in my time. he just didn't have the brainpower for the job and accomplished little . . . other than pardoning Nixon.
Oh, I'd say it's a lock that Red at least has a better grasp on brain power than say, Cotton Bowl. Then again, my cat has a better grasp on brain power than Cotton Bowl.
