1. I love Nick Saban I have an autographed picture in my office of him. But quite frankly I am weary and tired of this every single year. Now its confirmed he interviewed with Miami. Look I know some of you look at this as a business, probably true, but where is our Bobby Bowden, Jo-Pa, or Bob Stoops. Stoops is not going anywhere said it many times. If Saban is just hanging out here and we need to put up with this every single year over and over again maybe its time LSU also moves on. Hey it was great sure we will probably lose most of this years recruiting class. But at some point LSU is more important then one man.

I dont know maybe I am being reactive, but frankly if Saban does leave it will be nice to know that maybe just maybe we can find a coach he is a good coach that actually wants to stay at LSU. Maybe that is not possible anymore, however other schools have them why cant we..

I am just so tired of stressing out each and every year.

Hey Coach we love you, but if you dont want to be here, we understand thanks for everything but kindly pack up and move on. LSU has given you everything, maybe just once its time to give something back.. Maybe I am just a dreamer...
  2. hey man i TOTALLY agree with you. i am EXTREMELY tired of this. i've been a rabid LSU fan all 26 years of my life. we FINALLY get someone who can maximize our programs potential, and now we constantly have to deal with this. and everytime, i ask myself, "what is it about guys like stoops, paterno, bowden, etc that makes them want to stay? and why does saban lack whatever that is?" he could retire here and go down as one of the greatest college football coaches in history when all is said and done. oh but no, we must continue to get jerked around like a bunch of suckers every single year....and i am damn tired of it. he's an idiot if he leaves. he is the KING around here. holden may be the mayor, but we all know who runs this town. IMO, he hasnt been here long enough for our program to recruit itself when he leaves.
  3. I dont even pay attention anymore. If it is on the front page of lsusports.net, or the front page of espn.com or something comparable, I'll listen. Otherwise, it really isnt worth worrying about. He isnt gone yet, you know. For all we know, Saban IS our Bowden/Joe-Pa/Stoops. We all know that Saban does want to be at LSU, its just a matter of what else he may want to accomplish. If he wants a certain satisfaction that LSU cant give, he will go where ever it may be that he can find it. Sure LSU is more important than one man, but damn, this one man sure has done a lot for LSU. As long as he is bringing in the players, winning games, and graduating students, let him talk to whoever he wants. If he leaves, oh well.
  4. If he leaves, he leaves ... we knew this about him shortly after he was hired. Not much else to say or do, except wait for a decision. I'll thank the man for what he has done for LSU IF he does leave.

I'd take this over what we went through in the 90s anyday...
  5. Fair enough Mobile, but Tiger fans are tired of this every single year.
    At least I am...

Saban (If he does leave) gave us everything we asked for, he should be thanked, but I guess I am just weary of it and sort of wish we can find a coach like Bob Stoops, a winner who has no interest in leaving. Like I said I dont dislike Saban now, however I also realize the football is business and I guess I look at LSU differently then LSU.
  6. We need to get realistic about one thing. College Football, great as it is, is not the NFL. The NFL is the ultimate stage in all of sports. Perhaps Saban wants to test wits versus the likes of Bellichek, Gibbs, Parcells, Vermeil, Fisher, Billick, etc. The NFL is the best sports product out there; period. Great marketing, great regular season and a playoff system. If he wants to go thank him kindly for putting us on top again. Sure, LSU gives him everything he wants, but if he gets total control of football operations and $5 mil per year to live in Miami (pretty good town i'd say) how can we say objectively that he should stay.
  7. I guess I need to clarify, I am not blaming Saban, if he gets his dream opportunity heck I would leave to.

I am speaking as a Tiger fan, LSU specifically, I am thankful for Saban I guess my point is when will LSU get its long time Coach one that wins, its Bowden, Jo-Pa, its Bob Stoops. Its seems we either deal with this, or we have another Hallman. The last 5 years have been wonderful, I think Saban for that. He has given LSU everything that was asked of him.
  8. The NFL is the ultimate level of coaching and playing but I have to disagree completely with the best sports product thing. Heck, more than half the teams in the NFC or downright crappy this season. I happen to think college football and basketball outstrip the NFL in the product, the interest level, the number of fans from around the country, emotion, player character, color, etc, etc, etc.

I know the ratings for the NFL may be higher on TV but I'll take the college game anyday.
  9. In my book, the NFL doesn't hold a candle to college football. Not even close. Don't get me wrong, I like to watch pro football, but it's a bore compared to college IMO.

TexasTiger, you are speaking as if every team gets a coach like Bowden, JP, or Stoops when you say when do we get ours. Those are extremely rare, we may never get one. Most schools don't get one, so what makes you think we will ever? I hope Saban is that coach and that this is all just talk, but I'm also a realist.
