Al-Maliki's statements are coincidental, because I'm pretty sure I was just saying that the majority of folks over there can kiss my arse anytime they want. Go figure. The world must indeed be getting smaller.

All this means is he thinks his boys (Shia) have the stronger militia and will come out the winners in the civil war that follows the US withdrawal. The Sunni are outnumbered, unless they get help from Iran.

Iran is already helping the Sunni side, but will escalate their operations once the US is gone. Dont forget that Al Qaeda is also a Sunni group, so I wouldnt declare the Sunnis of Iraq outnumbered by any means. Sounds like this guy is a fool, overconfident in his own forces.

Al-Malaki is playing to his own people. The Shiites despise us and they are going to end up in charge. They are the majority and Iran will back them. Whether a democracy or, much more likely, another strongman, the Shiites are going to end up in charge of Iraq. Already they are starting to wish we would leave so they can get on with it. Soon, the legitimate Iraqi government will order us to leave their country and we will have to do so, with our tail between our legs.

Wouldn't it be better to have a strategic plan where we leave under our terms rather than "stay the course" and just dick around over there until they order us out?

Of course. It's well-established that these folks are incapable of self-rule. How do "western" idealogues not understand this?

The Darwinian Curve is not the same for all, and they've got a LOT of catching up to do. Dubai shines as a wonderful example of things going well, but alas, the rest of the UAE is NOT so fortunate. And don't think that discontent is not brewing with that little oasis.

I have mixed feelings about a withdrawal. While I feel we never should've been there in the first place, I thnk if we leave now, it broadens Iran's influence and with oil revenue, could create a major fundamentalist Islamic force. With Iran already on the brink of attaining nukes, is this really a good idea?

not to mention Al Qaeda in Iraq.
You do believe Al Qaeda is in Iraq don't you?

Its easy to see if you look back at history that if we pull out of Iraq the results will be like Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Meaning that chaos will insue and the collapse of the government followed by any american or democracy supporters will be killed.
Then either Al Qaeda, Hezbollah or Iran or all three will take over and after all three of these attack us in the future.
    Guess what?
We will have to start all over and enter Iraq again!
What will the anti-win people say then?:yelwink2:
    Food for thought.:(
