Here is an interesting thought that I read on another forum. As a disclaimer, let me point out that I have never been one to look/ask for a handout or expect any kind of sympathy. BUT, do you think that former Presidents Bush and Clinton and our friends in Hollywood will jump on the relief bandwagon for our area? I mean, they traveled halfway around the world to help those devastated by the tsunami, why wouldn't they want to help out those who've been affected by a catastrophic natural disaster in their own country? I'm honestly interested to see if anything along these lines happens.
As they say "Don't hold your breath" but while you are waiting how about all these countries they send my tax dollars to. And the useless UN that said we weren't doing enough for the Tsunami victims.
We were airdroping supplies in the Tsunami area in two days on the other side of the planet. Why in the world aren't we airdropping supplies in south louisiana after five days? Something ain't right. We have two of the largest military bases in the country at Fort Polk and Barksdale Air Base, but I've heard nothing of their efforts in this crisis. Surely they must be doing something. There are dozens of empty barracks at Fort Polk which has a hospital and kitchens. Why no refugee centers there?
I see on USATODAY.com that Diddy and Jay-Z have pledged $1 million. I would expect other celebs to follow suit.
Presidents Clinton and Bush are heading the private fundraising drive. Joe Horn is urging every NFL player to donate at least 5,000. I'm sure Peyton Manning will donate lots. Same for Shaq. I think the Hollywood Libs will follow suit.
