Only 13 reports of violent attacks on polling places during the election on the Iraqi constitution today. Compare that to 347 attacks when they voted back in January. That speaks volumes.

Also, some 70,000 Iraqi's in the Sunni stronghold of Fellujah turned out. If you remember back in January, that number was nearly zero.

Democracy alive and well in Iraq.

All hail President Bush. Job well done.

    PS: Democrats suck

    You are dreaming.

There is absolutely no democracy in Iraq. If there was, we would be gone. The Iraqi army has gone from 3 battalions capable of standing alone to 1. The insurgents are killing people on a daily basis. Five more US deaths happened today.

This war is a millstone around Bush's neck and will kill the republicans in the next election. History will treat Bush very harshly on Iraq.

Apologists said the same thing about WWII. How long have troops occupied Germany and Japan?

When did FDR's approval for conducting World War II ever drop to 32% ?

The rightwing attempts to analogize this Iraq blunder to World War II are truly comical.

During WWII, guys like you were stuffed in a burlap sack along with a couple big rocks and tossed off of a bridge.

    who cares?

i dont think so. spreading democracy in the middle east now is maybe as important as fighting nazis was then. only the spread of decomcracy can solve our problems long term.

The occupation of Japan by the Allied Powers started in August 1945 and ended in April 1952. Seven years.

The Allied occupation of Germany started in May 1945 and ended in September 1955. Ten years

Japan launched a pre-emptive strike against us and Germany declared war on us. What was it that Sadamn did to us, again? He talked tough and strutted like a third-world dictator? Oh, yeah.

The Allied occupation of Iraq is in its third year.
