..this "let's roll over and die because we have 4 losses" attitude that has overcome the board. It aggravates me that we lost, but this is one out of four seasons that has been average.

Yes, we have 4 losses this year for the first time since 2002 (5 losses that year). That was only 6 years ago and it was Saban's 3rd year as HC.

Bright spot: JJ can play ball. I don't know why Les hadn't let him loose earlier, but the performance I saw from him tonight looked promising for next year. He doesn't just stand there and let the pass rush get to him. He's mobile AND has a nice arm. The future's bright for him. It's a shame that Lee had to get hurt in order for him to get a real shot.

Something needs to be done about the defense. I will not argue with that. I didn't like the co-DC idea, and it looks like that needs to be changed. Hopefully, Les will find someone to put the fire back in the defense.

All is not lost because of one average season. Look what happened in the 2003 season after a 5-loss 2002 season (in case you forgot, :crystal:). I can deal with one out of four seasons being average, because the last three seasons have been great under :miles:.

Agree 100%, except I would (and have been through) multiple losing seasons in a 3, 4, or even 7 year span.

This is my school. This is my team.

    - 3 losses at home

    - 3 blow outs

    - All losses have been to a national audience (i.e. embarassing)

    - not one marque win

    - We were told JJ wasn't ready, and Miles is either a liar, has favorites, or was just a poor judge of talent concerning JJ

    - It took Lee getting injured to see a trend of pick 6's stopped

    - Defense won't show up and can't tackle

    - Need I go on?

Look, everyone pumps money into this institution and feels like they are a part of it. Miles is being paid big money to make the right adjustments, and he hasn't made any THIS year, thus the frustration from the fan base. Hopefully in the offseason, there will be adjustments, because you are nuts to think that we go into the next game or the bowl game with an improved gameplan or improved defense.

The team has looked like THEY have "rolled over and died." Maybe the fans are just following suit.

I was just pointing out that we're used to winning right now, which makes it even more likely that people go nuts over 4 losses.

Good post. Of course it is normal, after having such a great year last year. Anyway, hopefully Les will hire a DC and with the great recruiting class we will be back!

    Keep your heads up everyone!

NO ONE SHOULD EVER GET USED TO THIS. It's an infection that can mire a program in mediocrity and sometimes nothing can change it but a complete overhaul. (not suggesting this...yet)

When Miles says JJ isn't ready, I think he's referring to his grasp of the offense as a whole. Obviously he has the physical tools, but the playcalling is limited once JJ goes in.

He played very well, but we saw how things stalled a little after Ole Miss got a couple of looks at him. There was probably a set of plays that they prepared him for in case he had to go in, but it wasn't the entire book. I think by next year he'll have the system down and will be the opening day starter, but Miles is probably right that he wasn't ready to play the entire game today.

We had no run game. Of course things stalled. All they had to do was sit back and wait for JJ to pass. Still, he didn't throw any pick 6, and the INT he did throw was all on Toliver, imo.

I'd take JJ with the lack of playbook knowledge over Lee with anything he knows thus far. JJ showed he can throw, look for someone who is open, throw the ball away if nothing's there, and run/sell the zone read. JJ has every bit of an arm Lee has.

I hope Lee gets well soon, but he needs to ride the bench from here on out. He was given a whole season, and that was too long to show us he can't cut it.
