$250k/year is hardly the super rich.

I wish both candidates would do more for small business.

Whether it is true or not, I cannot prove, but I believe that Republicans & McCain are in the backpocket of big business - more so than the Democrats.

    I hate both parties.

There is no envy on my part. I do not think the rich should pay higher taxes just because it is easier for them. It is good for the economy.

I cannot find the quote I'm thinking of at the moment, but the tiered tax system creates a stronger middle class, which is the benchmark of a great economy.

True, but I still fail to see why a flat 15% across the board is undoable.

From the folks that are kissing their asses maybe, not from those that want them to pay their fair share.

There are things I like about a flat tax, but it would have to include elimination of tax breaks, tax credits, tax havens and other evasions, else the wealthy would still get their payments under it.

And that flat tax would have to be flexible. If spending goes up--taxes go up. If spending goes down--taxes go down. We pay as we go and quit wasting $200 Billion a year on interest on borrowed money.

How does it create a stronger middle class?

how are they rewarded for "sitting on their rear"? specifically. my understanding is they get little money for a short time. maybe youre referring to food stamps and free school lunches? im with you let em starve.

how are they rewarded for committing crimes?

how are they rewarded for having babies? what the $300/month they get? you call it a reward, i call it help (insufficient at that). what would you want to do, let the babies grow up more disadvantaged? f'em. their parents screwed up so make the kids suffer.

No arguments here. Flat tax systems do not work when there are loopholes (Do any systems work when there are loopholes?).

where have you been? anyone that wants the "rich" to pay more taxes is jealous. its inconceivable that there is any rational reason for the rich to pay more taxes.

I'm all for everyone paying their fair share of taxes, especially the rich. Close the loopholes and there are no problems, right? I don't think it's that easy, but F it. Let's do it.

My "envy" comment was directed at Red, because he seems obsessed with the notion that the rich are, well, rich.
