I just joined the gym right across the street and forked out $300 to have a personal trainer for a month to get me started. I'm bought some nitric oxide supplements and some whey protein. I get started with the guy tomorrow and he's going to do an evaluation and check my body fat and get measurements and get my max on the weights... The hardest thing is going to be eating right. I know that I have to do it in order for me to see some results and have some muscle gains. I want a little advice on eating better--for someone broke. I went to the grocery store and bought whole wheat bread, tuna, peanut butter and packs of turkey and ham. What kind of meals can I prepare that are healthy and easy to cook? I stress easy because I dont really know how to cook. lol Any advice would be helpful...I will post my progress thoughout the month!
Re: I'm on a health/protien kick... you can get big packs of frozen chicken breasts pretty cheap from most grocery stores. I prefer the type with the ziplock tops so I can seal the package. I'll go home pull a frozen breast out throw it on a forman and it's ready to eat in a few minutes.
Re: I'm on a health/protien kick... i usually get in shape in the summer so i can get out of shape for fall
Re: I'm on a health/protien kick... Tough to beat tuna for a high protein, low fat entree. To avoid having to cook much, just drain it, add some salt or cajun seasoning, and a boat load of hot sauce if you're not really into the flavor of tuna. A couple of cans should do the trick. Put 'em on crackers for an even better meal.
I like putting fat free french salad dressing on tuna. BBQ sauce on it is ok, stay away from ketchup or mustard. The chicken in the bag is a good idea; you can also buy tilapia filets in a bag and bake or george foreman them. I would tell you to save the $300 on the personal trainer but I guess it is too late for that. Just pay attention to other people who look like they know what they are doing, and a lot of people in gyms are more than happy to shoot their mouths off and tell you what they know for free. Oh, and stay away from the roid-heads. Good luck to you.
general rule of thumb. avoid all aisles in a grocery. Only buy stuff on the perimeter. read protein power lifeplan (i think thats the name)
Got to GNC, theyll show you a lot of things for the morning to get your body started. Plus, having a George Foreman is great too because you dont have to fire up the grill for lots of meat that has a lot of protein.
Today I had the following: Breakfast- Glass of Gatorade with 2 boiled eggs and a protein shake. Snack- Vitamin water/Pack of turkey Lunch- Glass of skim milk. Four peices of whole wheat bread with peanut butter on them. Snack- Water/Pack of turkey/protein shake Dinner- Tuna sandwich with fat free mayo, sprinkled with creole seasoning and 2 pickles/gatorade It's going to be hard to keep it up...I love eating fatty foods but I'm determined to see some results! Btw, I need to scoop me up a Foreman grill!
cut out the gatorade. two glasses of water after the shake will get that sodium out and get the metabolism flowing.
