If you could trade any of LSU's coaches for another coach in the SEC, who would it be? I saw this as a discussion on another board & thought it was pretty interesting. Obviously, I'd take Donovan over Brady any day of the week. I don't think anyone would argue with this. Miles is not quite as easy. We have 3 coaches with NCs to chose from + Richt & Tubberville, both very solid coaches. Personally, I'd take Miles over all of them (even Saban heads up - without considering the circumstances of him leaving etc). I could see a good argument for Meyer or Spurrier. I'm not buying why someone would rather Richt... For baseball, really tough call right now as Maneiri hasn't had time to prove what he can do, but even with that, I'd take him over everyone else. I think he's going to do a great job turning around the program.
I'm sorry I like Miles as a coach but I'd trade him for Spurrier in a heartbeat. He can coach and is one hell or a recruiter to get the kind of talent he is assembling at South Carolina. In bball, Brady for either Gillespie or Donovan. In bball, Mainieiri cannot be judged fairly. I think he will ultimately be a very good SEC coach so I wouldn't trade him for any other coach right now ( including Blanco who would be struggling as wel with this current team if he were hired last year).
Brady for anybody including the 3 Stooges and Shemp. LSU basketball needs a makeover now not later!!!!!!!!!!!!1:laflagwav
Football: I do like Miles alot, but if Spurrier came here I would be utterly eccstatic. Hes already turning the SC program around and with his recruiting abilities, I would doubt very many Louisiana players we target wouldnt sign. I would have preferred for Saban not to have left in the first place so I wouldnt really want him back (but I bet if we offered him 4.6 million a year he would :dis: ). Meyer would be a great choice as he is young and dynamic, but I wouldnt be surprised to see an NFL team go after him before long. As for Tubbey, I say hell no. I despise that arrogant look he always seems to have on his face. He might be a good coach, but I cannot stand him (sort of like his Alabama counterpart now) Basketball: See: basically every SEC coach. I know Ive said it before but Ill state it again: I am not now, nor have I ever been a Brady fan. I honestly do not believe that any other SEC school would hire him either, which isnt a good sign of his prowess, but thats just me. Baseball: I really cannot say as I have not given up on Mainieri yet (and I like his attitude so far), but since this is hypothetical, I say it would be hard to argue with Tim Corbin. Vandy had been the atheletic doormat of the SEC for years, but with their basketball program and baseball programs recent success, you have to attribute alot to the coaches.
We wouldn't have had to offer him that. He called LSU & told them he was considering coming back to college & that LSU was his first choice should the position become available. I'm guessing he would've accepted his prior salary...
But according to Terry, Saban would crawl on his hands and knees through 10,000 miles of broken glass to be the coach at Bama!
I might trade Miles for Meyer, but Meyer is the only one I would trade him for. Basketball - Donovan. A no brainer. Keep Mainieri.
This seems like a thread just stating which coaches are better than that of LSU's. I like our coaches, except for Brady. I think any coaching changes in football or baseball would be lateral at best at the point in time.
That would make the most sense. Donovan is another easy one, who wouldn't want someone who won the latest NC? Me, when it comes to football: I am still not sold on Meyer. The Gators have talent, Meyer's has fertile recruiting grounds, so the environmental issues are much like those at LSU. Myer's handling of Marcus Thomas, however, tells the tale. I would rather have a team and a coach I can respect.
