If USC gets beat by UCLA and Texas loses to Colorado in the Big 12 Championship (I know it's a long shot), is it true that one of these teams would be left out of the BCS? Since ND (if they win out) is assured of 1 at large bid, that would leave only 1 at large to be filled by either Tex or USC. Islstl or Dark Hornet can you help clarify please?
that would be sweet if that happens. Can you imagine how much crying Mack Brown and Pete Carroll would be doing. Plus it would f*ck the BCS again and that would be great as well.
I'm pretty sure that Notre Dame in not guaranteed of a BCS spot by being 9-2, it's just an accepted reality that Notre Dame would get an at large. Notre Dame would automatically qualify if they got up to 6th in the BCS along with their 9 wins. If USC and Texas were to lose, that would change everyone's reality. If Texas lost to Colorado as you mentioned, Colorado would get the Big XII's automatic bid. I think USC would easily get an at large bid, but Texas could go either way. My thinking is they would give Texas an at large as well.
No way Notre Dame is left out of the mix....I think UT would be out in that instance. A UT loss would drop them to about 6 in the polls, behind #1 LSU, #2 Penn State, #3 USC, #4 VTech and #5 Notre Dame #1 LSU, how sweet does that sound?
I just can't see Texas falling that far. I guess it depends on how badly they were beaten by Colorado, but I don't think they fall 4 spots, especially behind a two-loss Notre Dame. I could be wrong though. I'm just happy LSU can be in a BCS title conversation. Now all we have to have happen is one of the top to teams to lose, then it would be a free for all for the last spot. I'm getting more unconfortable with the thought of passing Penn State in the BCS though. Maybe Virginia Tech can gain enough momentum in the polls by winning out to be a wedge between us and Penn State.
a wedge in the human polls? obviously u dont want them as a wedge in the computer polls, as that works to our disadvantage well consider the fact that Colorado sucks....that would be a horrible loss for UT.....unlike USC's loss to UCLA...which is not nearly as bad
the later the loss in the season, the better, so maybe USC not losing last nite and losing to UCLA will be what is needed for LSU to pass them in the BCS, as they will certainly fall behind LSU and Penn State in that instance....last nite's loss could have only dropped them to #2 possibly, since Miami was still #3 at that point and would have been to USC's advantage...now there is no buffer and LSU and Penn State are waiting to pass USC if they happen to lose the sad thing is it's in the voters control
Don't know if it is at all possible, but I woulld love to play a one loss USC or PennState in the Sugar. That is of course if all the crazy ass **** that we need to make the Champ game doesn't happen.
Yeah, sorry, I mean the human polls. BTW, Virginia Tech is ALREADY a wedge between LSU and Penn State in the computer polls. It would be really nice if we could work that out in both the computers and humans. I believe then we could catch Penn State.
