LSU's secondary has always been suspect. Even last year most teams passed very well on us. Why is it that Saban doesnt just higher a backs coach and oversee. Every year it seems like our backs get burned by UF, UT, Ark, and Bama.

    Eli Manning 16/36 200 yards, 2 TD's, 2 INT's
    Matt Jones 4/14 100 yards 2 TD's, 2 INT's
    David Greene 17/41 199 yards 1 TD, 3 INT's
    Jason White 13/37 102 yards 0 TD's, 2 INT's

Our pass defense was lights out at the end of the year.

LSU 92, you must be a recent aquisition to the LSU family... maybe i was kind of wrong about last year... but before that when Demetrius Hookfin and earlier.. teams had the ability to pass on us practically at will... with that said... we have had a damn good run defense for along time, but we need to find balance... then end of last year we did well against the pass but if you look at earlier games we were slack...

What earlier games are you refering to? Chris Leak was the only QB to have success against our defense.

Actually this topic came up at the game where I was sitting. Could someone tell me what is different with these corner's play from lat year. They are getting beat deep and blowing coverages like they just showed up. I am no expert but could someone explain this years play to me.

There were no touchdowns as a result of "blown coverage." The difference between last year and this year was the lack of pressure up front. Greene dropped those passes in the bread basket. With the lack of pressure and ample time a quarterback of his quality will burn you every time. Anyone remember Dusty Bonner at Kentucky. I was sitting in lexington watching this guy drop passes in over the top against tight coverage because of no pressure on the quarterback. Blown coverage touchdowns are Florida throwing to the halfback uncovered over the middle. Not one blitz worked yesterday... not one.

Need to get your memory, checked is not serving you right.

LSU was the best team in College football last year hands down, if we had that team this year, both UGA and Auburn would have a loss right now. LSU lost a lot more then we all thought.

It's not so much the corners as it is the DL. We are bringing the house and getting no pressure leaving the QB all day to throw with man coverage. An accurate passer like Green or Leak will eat this alive no matter how good your corners. On many of the TD's yesterday the pass was perfectly thrown with the DB sticking to the WR like glue. Our DL is getting no push and teams don't need to double team them leaving more blockers to pick up the blitz. If you don't pressure the QB with man coverage you are going to get killed period, especially with an accurate QB that has high quality receivers. We better play some zone against Fl or they are going to need to add another row of light to the Fl side of the score board if we can't pressure the QB bringing the house on every play.
