Will LSU promote him for Heisman? All the talk of next year's leaders and not one mention of JR.

Should JR return, he'll get plenty of attention. We'll be on national tv numerous times, so everyone will be able to watch him. His performance in the big games will be the determining factor.

LSU won't have to hype him...

Do you think ESPN/ABC will allow Russell to win the Heisman?

Well, McFadden ended up 2nd and he is only a soph. He'll be the frontrunner next year.

Les did state in an article awhile back that he would promote JR as a heisman if he stayed.

The ESPN talking heads were talking about Troy Smith winning the Heisman and were he was projected to go in the NFL draft.

For what it's worth, Chris Mortenson said JR would be in this years draft.

Very good article. Although he is ridiculous for putting Russell number two in the Heisman for this year. Next year he would have a great shot and should be amongst the 5 favorites. THis year Russell had a very good season but it was marred by two horrible performances in big games. A lot of the posters made a lot of sense. I do agree with the writer in that returning would be the best thing for Russell. He reall appears to be making a lot of progress in terms of decision making, but he needs that extra year. The talent is certainly there, its to put it together mentally. I also disgree with the comparisons to Young. I think they are comparable in the Young came on late in his sophmore year to become an excellent QB. Same as Russell. His junior year was exceptional, same with Smith. Russell needs that extra year and he may reach their status.
