LSU and Florida (or some other good team from the SEC) should leave the SEC next year and create a new conference consisting of LSU, Florida and 9 of the crapiest teams in the NCAA. Then play the season, don't have a championship game, go undefeated and LSU/Florida play in the BCS Title game. This recipe worked wonderfully for the Big 10 this year. Why not?
No thanks. I'd much rather be a part of the SEC and get to enjoy great smashmouth football each and every year rather than play a cupcake schedule with a few extra crystal trophies.
I think this was less complaining about SEC lack of respect and more overhyped Big 11. I appreciated it.
Part of the problem is how Strength of schedule is defined. Most define it as a simple average of the ratings of your competition. There is a huge flaw in that methodology. For example, which hypothetical schedule would you think is more difficult per sagarin: 1) playing Ohio St, LSU, and Western Carolina; or 2) playing San Jose St, Syracuse, and Connecticut Now anybody with any intelligence would say case #1 is the more difficult schedule because there are 2 very good chances of getting beat, but per Sagarin and many other computer polls, case # 2 is the more difficult schedule. Case #1 has average ranking of 72 whereas case # 2 has an average ranking of 70. That is a joke. So, I may need to amend my new conference to two great teams and 9 very average teams that have no chance in hell of beating you. The recipe for a Michigan/Ohio State championship game.
Not to give AU or Tenn any credit, but we want to keep the Alabama's and Vandy's for 'sure' wins so we can play florida for NC title every year. Or we could just rid our conference of the SEC officials and borrow from other conferences, LSU would win out-right every year.
