If Bama Has 12 National Titles In Football Then LSU Has 5 (link)....

According to the NCAA Online website, LSU has 5 National Titles by recognized polls. The years listed are 1962; 1958; 1936; 1935;
& 1908. So the next time a Bama fan starts claiming LSU has only 1 National Title in football, count like they do & correct them.

Do the integrity of your school a favor. Just claim your legit ones. The only folks who think bama has 12 are bama folks.

I just don't get it. bama has some seriously impressive seasons in its past (92 to name one) and could match tradition and history with any school in College Football. Why fabricate NC's with Readers Digest Rankings . .

That's why I proudly only claim one for Auburn . 1957. Not 1993, or 83 . .or 1912 . . but the one in which the API had us #1.

 

Not trying to flame, but if you count those (per your link), Alabama has 17. I couldn't care less because I am one of the few Bama fans that tries to live in the present, but it's just an observation.

 

I can only count the one in 1958 as a legitimate NC although LSU might have had the best team in 1908 but there is no way of knowing because there was almost no media coverage then. If there had been a playoff in 2001 instead of a "mythical BCS national championship game LSU was on enough of a roll to get to the title game even though they had 3 losses during the regular season. I don't know if they would have beaten Miami but with the way the offense was clicking wtih Davey, Reed, Clayton and DD we sure as hell would have given the Canes a better game than Nebraska did.

 

National Titles are just impossible to claim in the past. Georgia could claim up to 11!!!!!! But of course, I dont think anyone will honestly say we have but 1. We went undefeated 1 year and didnt get it and won the Sugar Bowl that year....we also had a few years of winning the MAJORITY of 1st place votes....

But who cares? All I want is NEXT YEAR'S TITLE..

 

It won't happen this year or the next but whenever the NCAA abandons the bullshit BCS system and establishes a true playoff system likd they have in every sport except Division 1A football that will be the year when we have our first undisputed National Champion.

 

We were champions in 1958 and thats it. I'd love to claim the national championship some organization named us one, but the fact is we only won it in 58.

I am not a Bama fan, so I don't need to create championships to justify supporting my team.
