Hello Tigers, I am not a fan of either LSU or VT but wanted to share something I overheard at lunch today. Apparently at one of VT's away games this year, the home team's fans (don't know where these guys were from) are planning on facing the visitor section, bowing their heads, and observing a 32 second moment of silence in memoriam of the 32 victims. Since you guys are known for your hospitality and great fans, I thought you might be interested in doing the same. I have no idea how to go about organizing or executing something like this, just wanted to share in case you were interested. Thanks for reading and God Bless.
Agree, that is an excellent idea. I e-mailed Skip a similar request to have the band perform "Amazing Grace" during pre-game while facing the VT fan section. I still get chills thinking of their Amazing Grace rendition after 9/11. Remember when the entire band took off their hats? Not a dry eye in the house. :usaflagwa
Re: Agree, that is an excellent idea. I e-mailed Skip a That's a very nice idea as well. I'll be watching the game to hopefully some sort of tribute like this.
Who is going to write the Chancellor. My buddy takes a class he teaches and they have become pretty close. I will mention it to him to relay the message, add that and many emails and I am sure they will plan something if they havent started planning already.
If you guys can pull something like this off, I know I would be crying like a baby! I figured if anyone could do it, it would be LSU.
Adding to that would be having the Golden Band forming the "VT" symbol while facing the east (visitors) side of TS while playing "Amazing Grace". It could be the first time a camera would be needed on the east side of TS.
Even though the game would be our 2nd nationally televised game (most likely their first) this would set the tone for the rest of the nation to follow in our footsteps (most likely some are already planning their tributes). Dude, chills...chills...and chills. LSU!
Re: Even though the game would be our 2nd nationally televised game (most likely thei Sorry, I'm just not lining up behind this at the moment. I understand this has been a travesty, but at the same time it's in 5 months. I'm not saying we don't do something to honor their school and team, but I think by that time the visitors will be tired of it all and want to return to normalcy. Does anyone here not remember what we just went through? Not to compare, but it made much more of an impact and I know that I was ready to get back to normalcy (or some semblance of it) as soon as possible, let alone 5 months later.
