http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/07/19/notredame.orlando.ap/index.html how about Notre Dame
I really hope we don't. If we go for a premium home & away, I'd like to see (in no particular order) A&M, Oklahoma, Louisville, or West Virginia Not sure if any of these are even remotely possible, just some teams I'd very much enjoy watching on TV.
I would not mind a home and away with any of the following (not necessarily in the order of preference) Texas A & M (Old War Skull tradition would be a consideration and east Texas recruiting) Notre Dame (regardless of their record or our record, the name always gets head lines and it has been a while since I have seen Touchdown Jesus) Colorado (we have played them in the past and I always enjoy a trip out west in the fall) West Virginia (eastern mountains in the fall are always nice) Oklahoma (regardless of their record or our record, the name always gets head lines) I would suggest Nebraska (we have played them before) but, I really anticipate baseball getting back to the CWS with some consistency and I wouldn’t look forward the prospect of visiting Nebraska twice in the same year. ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
Notre Dame uses these games as recruiting ploys. They promise their recruits they will play a game near their hometowns as an inducement, in return for their signing to play so far away from home. In the past, they have been in the running for some talented players from our state. Do we really want to give them an opening like this? Maybe a bowl game every few years.
How good of a recruiting ploy is "Hey we'll play near your homw town, so your momma can watch us get our arses kicked"
I made that game! Only away game I ever went to. I was on a one week driving vac. in Colo, and spent Friday night in Boulder, walked up to the stadium and got a ticket (well 2, but you know what I mean!). I think it was McClendon's last year, 1979, and if I remember, we won like 41 - 0. It was a fun game for me!
