I have told my wife that i will not see Brokeback Mountain with her. She wants to see it so i told her to find someone else to see it with. I refuse to support the Hollywood corruption of morals in this country. Our kids and families are under attack by the permissive society we have become. Our rules and God's rules for living have been thrown to the side. Our criminals dont fear going to jail anymore. Even our church's preach homosexuality is ok. We all better wake up and start being more active in the return of morals to this country. Words like Integrity , Honor , Character , have got to be the core of our society. Freedom has a huge responsibility attached to it that a large part of our people in this country have taken for granted for awhile now. People in our Military still know this responsibility very well. They have based their lives on the defense of that ideal. So i will not take my freedom for granted and i will exercise that freedom to not see a movie that i think helps tear down the values that i hold important.
I won't see it either, but not because of it's lack of morals - because it's disguisting & I have no desire to see it. I too hope Integrity, Honor & Character can return to a once proud nation. Let's burn some queers at the stake! Wahoo!
I fear no art. It's just a friggin' movie. If it ain't your cup of tea, then don't go. I ain't going either, because I don't like romance films of any kind, especially gay films. But I don't give half a hoot about Hollywood "corrupting" America. I think the notion smacks of censorship.
I don't want to watch a couple of sheep herders wrestling in a sleeping bag either. But, honor and integrity are not necessarily the province of heterosexuals.
You let your wife get away with corrupting & furthering the moral decay of America? For shame. There was a time when a man would beat his wife & make her decisions for her. Where have these American values gone?
Just in case my comments aren't getting through, I'm trying to point out that though everyone doesn't agree with how American values have grown & there are some things you don't like about it, there are other things that are much better now.
I will not see it either, for all the reasons talked about in this thread. But think about this, if Hollywood is really able to have that much of an influence on the ideals and morals of the people in this country, then we have some pretty weak-minded and weak-willed souls living here. I'll agree with Red, it is just a friggin movie - just like The Da Vince Code is a friggin book (that's about to be a movie). Some people take movies way too seriously.
They've gone to jail with the rest of the wife-beaters who didn't get away with it. Disclaimer: I am in no way advocating domestic violence.
Is it censorship to refuse to see a movie . I am exercising my rights as a citizen to not support a movie of which i question . I dont think Homosexuality is right and i dont want to see the film. I dont hate gay people and i try to live by the golden rule. Treat others as you would have yourself treated . But i dont condone the glorification of being gay and the message it sends to people who are influenced by movies like these. In my opinion Homosexuality is wrong and should not be accepted as a norm in society just like we dont accept incest and sexual abuse. Therefore these people will not get money from me so they can make more movies that lead to the breakdown of Christian values. I have made my choice and living in a free society i expect there are many that will see the movie exercising their rights as well. But what i am doing is not censorship Red . I have not stopped anyone from seeing it.
