who everyone on this board would know, a couple of weeks ago. He had very close ties to Saban, cant say how. I ask him what Saban was going to do concerning the Fins job. He told me he had no idea, but what he said next surprize me. He sad Saban was one of the biggest Jerks he had every met. He said people in the football office were all unhappy working for Saban. He said," dont get me wrong he is a Hell of a coach, but a complete a$$". Now, I knew Saban would sometimes just rip the media up and down for no reason what so ever, and he could sometimes seem cold. The reason I bring this up is, Saban really NEVER came across as a LSU guy. So him leaving really did not surprize me one bit. In fact I seen the writing on the wall during the season this year. He just look like he was not having fun,and was ready to move on, and seem on edge. Dont get me wrong, I want a coach that puts up WINS,but I hope whoever the next coach is can also show some PEOPLE SKILLS. We need a coach who REALLY wants to be HERE, and is truly looking to build a LONG term program. Any way thats me 2 cents. GEAUX TIGERSldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
Some media types claim that Saban starting watching the Miami situation closely many months ago. When I read that, I wondered how he could truly stay focused on one team (ours) while keeping tabs on another. Maybe he is just that good of a coach.
Now LSU boards are going to look like the Mich St boards did after Saban came here. Who gives a crap about all of that. Saban has done more for the developement of the players away from football than any coach I've ever seen at LSU. I've seen and read way too many stories about him where the players and others have said just the opposite. Skip Bertman is a great judge of character and he loved the guy. Matt Mauck told me that Saban was the singlke most influetial man he had ever know amd it was incredible how much and how hard he worked with individual players in helping them develope as people as well as players.
" Saban really never came across as a LSU guy" That is so funny and somewhat true. Saban actually achieved on the highest levels of his profession. He did not run to make excuses when success was not immediately achieved. He did not cheat or steal to achieve it. He did not have to! Believe me, Saban inspired more common Louisiana citizens in their day to day life than just about any other public figure this state has ever seen. He gave everyone something we could all share and call our own. That national championship meant so much to the entire state of Louisiana. You know the state that is last in every category that is important. Thank goodness Saban was a leader instead of a follower... like so many other sorry A$$ public figures this state has produced. Hopefully more "LSU GUYS" in the future will walk a path of excellence set forth by Coach Saban's professional work ethic.
THis wasn't common knowledge? Anyone who didn't think that Saban was a hired gun was only fooling themself. We all knew it was a matter of time. Who cares about whether or not someone is an LSU guy. Al Davis said it best, "Just win, baby!" He can sacrifice goats and grow ganja in the offseason for all I care...
Some of the same characteristics of this ******* were the characteristics that brought us a national championship. I think the players really liked Gerry Dinardo.
