First and foremost, I'll start by saying that our defense and special teams alone will win us 10 games. We quite simply have too many studs (at almost every defensive position) and a heck of a coordinator calling our plays.

    Now, back to the issue..

Our WR's outside of RR, need to play better.

After re watching the game, Jefferson's fade route to the corner of the endzone seemed to go straight through Toliver's hands..

JJ needs to stop locking on to R. Shepard, as he clearly is the least reliable of the 3 WR targets. No fault of his own, the kid has been playing WR for the first time in his life...

Speaking of R. Shepard, he should have caught that deep pass during the fourth quarter.

Rueben Randle is the smoothest looking WR in the planet. Those who've palyed ball know what I mean when Isay, the dude is just straight smooth!

Lets get him the ball downfield more....

Speaking of, while sometimes I say we need to air it out more, we all forget how many pass plays are turned into run plays because JJ has the tendancy to bail on a play extra early if his primary target is not there.

That said, his pass attempts could/should be somewhere around 25....

JJ TD run was a gift and a curse....
Great for the score, but the last thing GC needs is a reason to call the option...

We have Running Backs. Why don't we let them run the ball.

And being that our QB situation is as "stressed as it is", I find it pretty thoughtless to have one of the two putting himself in harms way with his multiple option carries.

Steven Ridley has really quick feet for a big back. I'm starting to like him more every week....

I'm glad to see that we have gone to I formation, and pro-style handoffs, and decreased the number of option plays...

Now its time to mix in the play action from those same sets.

Is it me, or did Patrick catch that ball on his neck....
And the sad thing is, he expected to...
(Wow isn't a strong enough word)...

Matheiu's blood must be made of jet fuel..
I've never seen someone, blitz so well, so consistantly, and with such aggression. The kid plays with the attidude of a 250 pound LB.

Drake Nevis could stop playing today and still get drafted in the 1st round. The dude has been unblockable for our first three games....

The screen play to Shepard would have been a TD if nor for the MSU defender getting a hand on the ball. Perfect play call, great play by the MSU defense.

    We have a championship defense....
Mark my words when I say the big dogs,
Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Fla, or going to struggle when trying to move the ball on us.

    3-0 aint bad.

    :tigereye:
    Not bad at all...

    Geaux Tigers...

good post, and i think those questions are all fair. I think Tolliver should have caught that fade, I also thought Shep had a shot at the long ball in the endzone.

I think Shepard's problem is his legs. He is getting so ready to burst into flames that he often loses concentration on the ball, sometimes he catches the ball and just falls down, others he drops the ball. He will get better on this, i still cant for the life of me figure out why we don't run inside screen's to him, bubble screens, and hell even set screens with him coming out of the backfield. With the 3-3-5 defense that WVU likes to play, we should be able to eat them up throwing the ball on flares and screens to our backs.

As far as the option goes, you can forget about them ditching that play. It's never going to happen. They will run the option at least 4 times Saturday night. What impressed me, was on JJ's touchdown run, how he read the defensive end on the zone read play. That is what we need to see out of Jordan on that play. If he can master that play, it will open up so much. How cool would it be to see Billy G implement the Florida Inside Tight End option to Deangelo Peterson. I think I just drooled on my keyboard.

I'm with you, the D and Special Teams are good enough to keep us in every game we play, and if Jefferson can get better, every week, I think we have a real shot at the West, and if we win the West, i think we win the Enchilada.

Man, I was talking to a buddy of mine about how I can't wait to see D. Perterson back on the field.

I'm with you, i'm sure you are like me, and not surprised at all to see Hernandez getting busy for the Patriots.

Peterson, in my opinion, is a nightmare for any LB or safety. He has the skill set of a WR, he just so happens to weigh clost to 245 lbs.

I for one, always envied the way that Florida would kill you with 81.

If Billy G opens it up for D.Peterson the same way, :crystal:....

We can all start drooling, right on top of that 3rd Crystal football..:hihi:

LSU's offense is a heavy run split by 3 sometimes 4 RB's, with an OL that has (so far) improved from last year. Mixed in are three good receivers, each capable of getting the job done. Our weakness will be inconsistency at QB. No matter if JJ or JL is in the game, their production is gping to vary from week to week. Either one is good enough to not have a negative impact on the team, just not good enough to go for 300 yds and 5 touchdowns per game.

Still I go with my original prediction of 10-2

The offense has not improved, I believe LSU was #113 in the NCAA last year, this year after 3 game LSU is #91 in total offense. Usually the total offense stats are padded during the cupcakes early in the year, last year they steadily moved down the ladder when they got into the meat of the schedule.

The offense output is very similar this year as it was last year and LSU was very close to being last in the NCAA in offense.

    Total yardage through three games
    2009: 977 yards 2010: 967 yards

    First downs through three games
    2009: 55 2010: 48

I really can't see anything stats wise that would convince me the offense is better. I do think the overall personnel is better and Ridley is tons better then Run Straight in a Wall Scott, but in the end the offense output is basically near last in the SEC and NCAA.

I considered anything less then 4 losses to be a good year considering who is running the offense, but that was before NC pulled their 2nd string out. My guess 2-4 losses, 2nd or 3rd in the West.

I don't think the offense is tremendously better, but it's improved some. The yardage issue is misleading. I think if you consider starting field position for the three games thanks to interceptions and the return game (PP da man!), it shows that LSU is doing pretty well. Is there a stat that shows average starting field position? The return game was not nearly as good last year. This year it seems like every drive starts at least at our own 40. That's a yardage reducer in and of itself.

Ah, yeah, instead of getting 1st downs or Tds we send in the FG kicker, get 1 or 2 1st downs and send in the kicker. There has been plenty of room to move the ball, unable to get 1st downs.

Instead of the punter getting tired, the FG kicker's leg is about to fall off.

You are correct, field position has help score the points and extra turnovers... 3 more turnovers vs. last year so far.

Defense has played solid other then the 4th Q vs NC.
    Special teams has played great.
Offense, just good enough not to lose the game.*

    * Clock is ticking on this working in the future

Why do you post here? Nothing good to say Ever.

There is improvement but if all you loom at are stats, then you obviously do not watch the game and everyone should just ignore you for the rest of the season.

Well, I guess you are a dummy. Didn't I say the defense has played good and the Special teams has played great. I swear stupid people like you that ignore what you don't want to hear.

NO, the offense sucks, don't tell me I don't watch the game. IT SUCKS, IT SUCKED LAST YEAR AS WELL, if you don't like it... that is really too bad.

Why do you post here? Why don't you just go to the mirror and say what you want to hear to yourself. I mean you are lying right here on a public forum to feed your delusions, yeah, I have nothing good to say. Look you can lie to yourself all you want, but if you think anyone that has watched LSU football the last few years will say this offense is good or even average is just laughable.

You are delusional fanboy that thinks ignoring the truth is a good thing. Well, you go about your business and tell yourself the lie, not much I can do about it. Yeah, I can see the offense getting better if they all believe they are great and playing great. No, the way you improve is focusing on what you are not doing right, not pretending you are doing good when you are not.
