...on ESPN during Sportscenter. They have the 'crawl' along the bottom of the screen and a heading says 'BCS Bowl Games presented by (some sponser)' and then lists the 4 BCS bowls. But it has #1 USC vs #4 Michigan in the Rose and #3 Oklahoma vs #2 LSU. Sorry but that is NOT the BCS rankings no matter how badly you want to be. If they are going to call it the Bowl Championship Series then they HAVE to go by the BCS ranking. Time for an e-mail campaign.
don't bother. Trev Alberts wants it that way. USC is the best team per him. We just need to learn to live with it a little while longer.......
I know but my point is they are calling the the bowls by that title yet are using another version of rankings to list the opponents.
During the season, some networks use the coaches poll and others use the AP (most use the AP). However, ever since the BCS was created, the BCS rankings have been used for the broadcasts and ads of the BCS bowls. In fact, this is the first time since the BCS was created that they have used the AP rankings for the BCS bowls ads. I posted about this around a week ago. Some places they have the BCS rankings for the advertisments, but ESPN has been using the AP poll. I felt it was wrong when I first saw it, and it still pisses me off. Emails won't help either, b/c ESPN believes this is what the fans want. It also helps ABC market both bowls better to the nation.
Not to worry. Michigan has a reasonably good defense and USC is #110 in pass D. This whole problem will resolve itsself on new years day.
Don't go off on ESPN so quickly, even our local paper is doing the same thing. I noticed it in lead article of today's (12/15) sports section. That is even more unbearable.
How long will it take after #1 USC gets their plow cleaned by #4 Mich. before they start referring to the Sugar Bowl as #1 against #2 for the whole ENCHILADA!!!! Expect ESPN/ABC to pimp as much comercial value as possible.
