... that Blacks are disenfranchised/don't have opportunities. The reason Jesse Jackson, who was crying tonight like a baby when the cameras were on him, wanted to cut off Obama's testicles was because if Obama were to win, it would steal his, Jackson's, thunder. In theory, the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of the world would then have to should shut up about not having opportunities, since a black guy is our freaking president. Arguably the greatest opportunity that can be achieved in America has just been achieved by a black man, and it took a hell of a lot of white votes to get him there. However, that won't stop Jackson and Sharpton. They'll find other garbage to gripe about. Question: Why is it racist for a white guy to vote for McCain just because he's white, but it is American (or understood) for a black guy to vote for Obama just because he's black? Both are wrong, right? In conclusion, shut up about America being racist. Tonight proves to the world that we aren't racist... only stupid.
Sure, we made history and everything... But, what is with all these, and I'm not trying to sound racist, Black people putting all over their Facebook profiles about how it has taken 20 years for a Black man to become president? After all was said and done tonight, it seems to me more and more people of the African-American race voted primarily on Obama because of his skin color. I would like to see how many African-Americans voted in this election rather than others...
Here is a picture of Obama with his mother (who died in 1995): Here is a pic of Obama with his maternal grandparents, who raised him (his grandfather died in 1992 and his grandmother died a few days ago): Here is a picture of Obama's mom and her parents: Now here is a picture of Obama with his father who left his mother when he was two years old (his father died in 1982): My question is, if Obama is 1/2 American white and 1/2 Kenyan black, why is he always called a "black" man, but never a "white" man?
Consider this... Blacks make up about 15 percent of the US population... in what other country are you going to see an ethnic minority from so small a group become the nation's leader? None... never... I felt absolutely not white guilt based obligation to vote for a black man just because he is black... Unfortunately, many did... Now, had it been a women, then yes, I might feel obligated to vote that direction, considering they make up 52% of the population...
off the top of my head, fujimora of peru i also think there has been atleast one native leader of a Central/South American country.
hopefully you dont think that just because one "black" man "made it" that all blacks have equal opportunity? that being said, i dont think the racism that exists significantly limits opportunities. opportunities are more limited by economic and cultural factors.
They don't? Was Obama given a special "whitey" pass? The opportunity is there. Just because so many blacks continue to squander the opportunities and cling to the victimization mentality doesn't mean the opportunity isn't there. Blacks face a whole host of problems these days, most of which is self-inflicted. The blacks in America that are achieving success today did so by rejecting the limiting beliefs and cultural failures still common in far too many blacks today and by taking advantage of the limitless opportunities this country offers. It's the cultural factors that so limit the economic progress of so many blacks.
