America can not be united. Some on the right may move a little to the center...some on the left (after they age a few years and learn to understand the world) may move to the center...but the right will always hate the left and vice versa.

Obama won...whatever...but don't stand on a stage and say how we proved how united we all are. He represents democrats and liberals...not me. His win only proves that there are more people who disagree with me than there are that agree. How is that unified?

I never claimed, after Bush won, that we were all united now. If anything, the '04 election just showed how divided we all are.

There will always be a right and a left. The left seems to be growing at an alarming rate while the ideals of the those of us on the right seem to be dying out.

End partisanship....? It's all about partisanship.

51% - 47% in popular voting is hardly united.

The nation isn't above voting a black man into the presidency, so in that manner we are more united than some dared to hope. FOX News and conservative radio do a great job of dividing the nation, and there are a fair share of liberals who do the same.

We are limited by the flaws inherent in humans, but I don't think it is misguided to hope for a nation more united than we have been these past 8 years. I hope Obama truly works to achieve that rather than rapidly expanding government and ignoring the desires of conservative America.

Republicans have given us 8 years of empty words. Obama gives us poignant words and we will have 4 years to see if they are as empty. I imagine Hannity will rail at how socialist the US is becoming regardless, but then in the same breath support Republicans who are just a shade less socialist. If Hannity says it, many will swallow. Many will react childishly and not give a man more than half the nation wanted a chance.

I think Obama implied it several times in his acceptance/victory speech.

I suppose if you aren't a critical thinker you can simply take his speech to mean that Republicans and Democrats are finally one big happy family now that a Democrat has one. Hannity would concur; fine company.

Obama said about positive change/a better America in his acceptance speech: "we may not get there in one full term." Well, that's good to know.

Hannity, a loudmouth clown, is a Republican apologist, no matter who the moron is. He supported and said many good things about all of the Republican nominees in the primaries, except for Ron Paul, the only true conservative of the group. During the primaries, he had Giuliani on his show, and callers would call in to question him about his views on abortion and federal funding for these abortion. Hannity, in turn, scolded his listeners for asking distracting questions. Wow...

Limbaugh should lose some listeners after this election, too. He has been saying for months that the Clinton supporters were going to jump on the McCain bandwagon for sure. He also made the Obama voters sound scared about the possibility of losing. All of which have been a steaming pile. These female Clinton supporters never showed up for McCain, and Obama won convincingly. I also feel he's been misleading about the so-called promise of Sarah Palin, which in actuality, showed tonight that was a farce.

Besides, McCain's selection of Palin showed no concern for the well being of the country, but instead, showed the desperate measures of trying to garner the Clinton/female vote. It didn't work.

At this point, I've been very selective about who I listen to on talk radio. I pretty much stick to Buddy Songy now.

That being said, I still hope Al Franken doesn't win.

    Hardly.

:hihi: Seriously, its better than saying I'll fix everything in 4 years.

On this we agree. As a fellow supporter of Ron Paul, I can see where your criticism of Obama comes from. Still, I'm holding out hope that Obama will improve on Bush's 8 years of... whaaa?
