hell if I know the REAL story....goes back to the golden years of the 50s and 60s. lot of history there...the Billy Cannon game, Archie Manning and his gimp arm, plus LSU and Ole Miss were always very good then. i think auburn has replaced ole miss with much of the younger generations of Tiger fans...
LSU really doesn't hate Ole Miss all that much. It's just an old rivalry from the 1960's when both teams were perennial top-10 picks. Ole Miss fell on hard times in the 1970's and LSU did in the 1990's. Now that both are winning again, the rivalry has heated up. LSU hates Auburn.
I know why I hate them so much and have said it here before, but for me it has nothing to do with the 50's and 60's. To summarize my feelings, it has more to do with the attitude and arrogance of many of their fans and players. As promised, I attended the Egg Bowl (the first half anyway, then I had to go home and rest up for the trip to Baton Rouge on Friday) in my traditional LSU game day attire, just to rub it in the ole misses faces a little bit more. Before the game, a couple of friendly older ole miss fans came up to me and actually carried on intelligent conversations about the game and the upcoming LSU-Arkansas game. I guess the big win over MSU plus a little alcohol got their spirits up, because as I was walking down the ramp out of the stadium, I was greeted with taunts of LSU sucks and others not quite so friendly. Unfortunately, my dear old mom was with me, so for her sake I tried to be on my best behavior and kept my mouth shut. She did make me proud however, when she saw one ole misser draw back to take a sucker punch, she caught him with a hard elbow to the ribs and he qucikly scurried off before I could get to him. Got to love mom. I think I made the MSU fans' night however, because those obnoxious hotty toddy cheers were drowned out by the MSU fans chanting LSU, LSU when I walked by. So it was all worth it in my book. ole miss fans are cocky and arrogant, although they haven't really had anything to be cocky and arrogant about since, oh, around the 1960s or so. They are nothing more than pests and runts, just as Trev Alberts described them. Maybe if they can one day learn their roles, they will not be so hated around the SEC.
i know i hated ole miss before the game and i hate them more now after the game. Ole miss has always been my most hated school.
