    1. Name just one defensive back at Northwestern State, who you believe would Start for LSU.

I went to the LSU scrimmage. JJ, Lee or Mettenberger didn't put up close to these stats:

Lee missing 1 pass, Mettenberger missing just 3 passes.

    Why?

You can say "Well the DB's knew where the passes were going", or you can tell the truth. Not one of those Northwestern DB's could break into LSU's starting lineup at DB. Very likley not the second team, either.

This is no knock on Mettenberger, it is simply perspective. They'll need him at some point..maybe this year, certainly next year.

I think Mett looked damn good last night. Does that mean he is ready to handle the speed of SEC defenses...I don't know. I will say that I feel good about Mett if Lee were to go down.

I'm not sure why you felt the need to start an entirely new thread about this topic, but if you had read the other one or posted in the other thread then you would have seen this:
and that would have answered your question.

Now, I don't think that Lee should be benched. We also know that Les isn't going to bench a QB that hasn't done anything to lose a game, either so talking about it is kinda pointless. However the potential of Mettenberger at this point is far greater than anything Lee has ever shown. That's what most people are saying in these threads.

I don't think it's necessary to name a DB. The first two passes that Mett threw were to be made regardless of the defensive backfield that we were playing. He took 2 one step drops and fired 2 accurate WR screens to Odell Beckham. One of these hit Beckham in stride and he picked up 8-9 yards.

Let me return a question. Can you name one DB that JJ, Lee, or Mett were throwing against during QB drills in the spring and fall? You don't need a good backfield to see how good a QB is. Mett has confidence and instills confidence. As has been pointed out, I don't hold my breath when Mett throws the ball. I'm not afraid that when the camera pans downfield I'm going to be looking at 3 DBs and 1 WR in the screen. I'm not keeping a count in my head of when the ball needs to be thrown by. Watching Mett last night gave me a feeling that I haven't had since January of '08, a feeling of confidence and not worry when our QB throws the ball.

This all being said, I happen to agree that Lee should be starting because I love the way he's been playing so far. I do think that Mett is a better QB, I just don't know if he's ready for the SEC yet, and I don't know how much of the offense he knows, so I trust Les.

Your questions is pointless. Who cares how many DB's people can name? Mett played well in his first LSU action. What's wrong with praising him? Don't see any reason to downgrade a player because you think the opposing team wasn't that good.

We get it. You like Lee. But this is clearly a thread to create controversy when there is no reason to.

This guy is a net-boxer. He lasted two rounds with tirk before it was stopped due to a bad cut over his left eye.

No .... I think what some of us are getting sick of is the pro-Mett crowd dissing Lee.

Mett is Fantastic .. he did great. But dang ... "some", one in particular, needs to STFU about Lee. A little support goes a Looooooong way,. Just how fricken good do you think Mett would be if the crowd booed is butt everytime he made a mistake. I'd say, not tooo fricken great. he'd play well below his potential.

"Mechanics" ain't everything .. in fact .. Psychology ... is about million times more powerful.

Atleast we don't have to watch jj run the short side option. Enjoy the little passing game we have now. If jj came back and started next game he would drop back to pass and tuck the ball and run. Mett and lee will atleast throw the ball. Be happy we have a passing game now.
