I grew up in Lafayette and remember seeing the phrase "geaux cajuns" in the early 80's. when did lsu fans start using it? i know it doesn't go way back.
The Louisiana fad for ending every word that rhymes with "go" in _eaux is simply to acknowledge our French heritage. Many French and cajun words or names are spelled _eaux. Thibideaux, Boudreaux, etc., etc., etc.
Yeah, but they just use it to make fun of us. Ive seen bumper stickers that say, "White shirts, yellow britches, GEAUX to Hell you sons of bitches." I think thats a cheer, too.
GEAUX TIGERS It don't matter I like it !!! Up here in Tennessee . It is GEAUX TIGERS they don't know what it means . The Vol fans are not sure what happened yet they are mad at their team and asaking if it is ok to boo their beloved Vols HA HA GEAUX TIGERS Sully said that u hear
I remember seeing Geaux Tigers when I was a little girl. I didn't even know Ole Miss or anyone else used it. I've always related it to LSU. I had heard one time though that it was symbolizing the French heritage. Heck thats nothing for other schools to make fun of. Thats something to be proud of. My heritage is also French!
