I actually was pretty happy with how his administration was going. He seemed to be trying to reach across the aisle and be bipartisan, he was willing to admit his mistakes, he said all the right things, but this stimulus package is mind boggling to me. The thing is, he and the rest of the democrats had it right. We needed infrastructure spending and not tax cuts. What happened to rebuilding the nations infrastructure to stimulate the economy? What happened to shovel ready projects will be given money first? What happened to only financing projects that could stimulate the economy immediately? Instead we get a bill that doesn't focus on shovel ready infrastructure but spends 8 billion on a light rail project from Vegas to LA. I'm sure this will be great news for all LA degenerate gamblers but it won't create a single construction job for 5 years. William Ankner was on the radio this morning. He is the basically the head of the Louisiana DOTD. He said we had $1.3 billion in shovel ready projects but once the stimulus bill was finalized we will be funding only $380 million worth of projects. Meanwhile we have $1 billion set aside for clean coal initiatives, which are fine, but don't belong in this bill. We have 300 million in upgrading fuel efficiency of government vehicles with the proposal to go to these neighborhood electric cars that you see down in Florida a lot. They're manufactured by a group out of ND. Who pushes this through, a politician from ND. This whole thing is an embarassment and Obama signed it. We all knew we had to mortgage or future to get out of this crisis and we have definitely mortgaged our future, but we probably will have solved nothing. Mr. Obama, you had your chance. Next.
Actually you are wrong. Here are the facts on Louisiana in the stimilus bill. http://www.kiplinger.com/tools/stimulus_map/index.html?state_id=19&state=Louisiana http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/capital/index.ssf?/base/news-6/123390137970890.xml&coll=1 Stop listening to the radio and do your own research, you could learn the truth.
Just wait until the unions do away with the secret ballot and the fairness doctrine becomes law. Its going to be fun watching a bunch of people who voted for Obama regretting their decision. Hey, I really love all the talk about taxing people by mileage, that should also hit close to home. Keep voting those tax happy people in.
More of your woe is me conservative talk, add some facts to the discussion for once, that prop up your arguments.
Not really, I'm quite happy. Come and talk to me in a few years and we'll see if this stuff actually happens. I already responded to your other post. There is the conversation you wanted, you might learn something!
you cant teach me anything, you are the Jerry Falwell of TF, with your death and destruction of the United States talk since a democrat is in office, funny your predictions didnt start until then.
Btw, call me skeptical on your list of projects for the state of Louisiana. Remember when state money was used to build a casino boat instead of fixing a levee wall before Hurricane Katrina? Thats another issue with government, they can always say this money is used for something but sometimes it gets used for something else instead!
Sure it will. Engineers, planners, and designers will go to work immediately. Surveyors and land agents will hit the field quickly to survey and permit the route. Meanwhile materials contractors will start collecting a huge amount of supplies and materials and begin fabrication of components. Engines and railcars will be built and tested. And yes, graders, haulers, equipment operators, bridge and culvert crews, and other constructors will be in the field before five years have passed. Electricians and track-layers not much behind. This recession is going to last for years, so we need projects that last as long. Temporary jobs won't help the unemployment situation. Spending it all in a day is not the kind of stimulus we need. Getting it going quickly and spending it over the course of the recession makes more sense.
