Every game they throw to him and every game he drops anywhere from one to six passes. For some reason, the coaching staff is under the impression that he has good hands. Maybe he does in practice but not in the games. And, don't tell me how many receptions he has this season. If you do, tell me how many drops he has too. He is okay as a runner. I am not trying to say he shouldn't be playing, but putting him in positions to catch passes. I have to believe that Vincent could catch better.
Couldn't tell you what the coaches think, but during the first game they said that they were trying to find ways to get Addia the ball any way they could. With all the talent at RB, it is only natural to try him out in different situations. Josh Reed started out as a RB, and had a hard time adapting to the position at first, however once he "got it", he became a dangerous threat . . . a WR who could run with the ball like a RB. I'm not at the practices, and I don't know what the coaches see in Addia as a slot style back. But I think they are trying to find ways to get him on the field, just like with Josh Reed. He was a dangerous runner last season, but not our best RB, so I assume they want to find a way to use him to our best advantage. I don't think he holds us back or anything, by just trying to get him the ball.
Addai was a monster on the ground last night...he's averaging 5 yards per carry in his LSU career...IMO, i think he is pushing Vincent for #1 spot
I agree with you on this. The hype on Vincent may have been a bit premature, and I was one of the ones over-hyping him. Addai looks to be our best RB option right now. He looks like a man possessed out there. He hasn't dropped that many passes. The first week I attribute to wet conditions and Russell's tough passes to catch. Russell was much better with getting the right zip on the ball, making his passes "softer" to catch last night. Addai did a much better job last night catching the football. This looks to be the year for Joe Addai. I look for big things from him the rest of the way. Look for split duty with the carries between Addai and Vincent. Broussard being 3rd in that mix.
I went to the first game and listened to the second, I didn't see him drop many balls. Saban knows what he is doing, he is going to have a great year, just wait and see.
Vincent probably not close to losing the #1, but he only had that number on paper anyway. The other RBs are as capable as him, if given the opportunity. Addai has always run hard (HARD!)...like a runaway tank. I love watching him run and seek out contact. I could do with less of his catch attempts...but I'm all for giving him the ball more.
justin is the best back out of the bunch. addai is a hard runner though and so is broussard but all around justin is better
Actually when Saban let out his first depth chart for the year that everyone was begging for, Vincent was 1A and Addai was 1b. So it is not as far out of reach as yellowex claims.
do any of yall actually watch justin when he runs. u would notice that he he makes plays that the other backs cant. that is why he is number 1. because he can do it all and can make plays
