Can someone please point out to me where in the bill profiling is allowed. This hysteria is ridiculous. People are always looking for a reason to bitch about something.

That's what happened. The President of Mexico issued a letter warning Mexicans not to go to Arizona lest they be subject to harassment.

    True that.

That's rich. No problem with breaking US laws but getting harrassed is over the line.

Everyone here knows that if a cop wants to find a reason to stop you, he will. The law does not allow profiling, but if a cop so desires, he can already find a reason to pull you over. It's sort of like me and my employees. If I want to fire someone, it's easy to find a reason, but is it worth the trouble? I just don't see cops all of a sudden stopping every single car w/ a Mexican in it. That would get old really quickly. Yes, there are always the bad apples. The reason you hear about them is that it is not the norm, thus it makes for an interesting story. These cops are the exception, not the rule, and will do what they are going to do regardless of this law.

As to profiling, cops profile every single day. They look at people and evaluate threat levels, intent, etc. based on their looks. Don't act so naive.

the bill doesn't specifically say anything about racial profiling, but you can't honestly say that it's not going to happen. I think if that bill would have been presented differently instead of of the big " we are right, you are wrong, **** you" attitude that is being presented with it, things would have gone over alot smoother. But hey, that is the way of the right in this country, they are right about everything, no discussion, no debate, they are right, **** everyone else who doesn't agree with them, because they are not patriotic, and they are socialist commies.

The really nice thing about this bill is that it has gotten the attention of Washington and who knows, they just might get off of their butts and do something about the borders.

I'm pretty sure that everyone here, with the exception of martin, thinks we should have control of our borders. Hopefully we can all agree that getting the feds to do their job and secure the borders will be a good thing.

Just like in the Gates debacle, Obama rushed to judgment with his comments that the bill was "unfortunate" and "irresponsible" without even knowing what the bill said. If he had been "Presidential" a lot of this wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth would have never happened.

i know how to solve the border problem.

Legalize drugs, and then put anyone who hires illegals under the jail for 10 years.
