I noticed a few feeding on one of my satsuma blooms yesterday so I picked up a feeder and made some nectar.

Anyone else love this lil fellas?

My Mom is crazy about them. Every year she does the feeder, nectar thing.

Be sure to change the nectar frequently...sometimes it ferments or fungus grows in it and it's bad for the birds.

We keep one parked outside of our breakfast window. They are cool to watch. Usually have a male that parks on a nearby branch and guards the feeder from other males. We up the sugar content in the feeder in late fall to prepare them for migration.

I do. They taste fantastic when marinated in dolphin's milk.

My wife loves them too. She puts up two feeders and grows about a half dozen plants that attract them this time of year. She's even talking about giving feeders to the neighbors, because some experts say more will come if you give them sort of a feeding path to traverse each day.
