I'm a bit at odds that some people even consider this guy a republican and a decent person at that. 1. He raised taxes in Arkansas during his term (source) 2. He gave tax payers money to illegal aliens (source) 3. He paroled more people during his term than all his neighboring states combined. 4. One rapist he paroled killed and raped 2 others after being paroled. (source) 5. He believes he has a direct line to God (source) (source2) 6. He believes women's role in marriage is to "graciously submit" (source) 7. He doesn't adhere to the "just war" theories of Christianity. 8. He believes in torture (source) 9. Want to isolate all AIDs patients (source) This guy is a total looney.
Hi Rex - I am certainly not a political expert and do not have a horse in the race, but I read in this morning's paper that Huckabee has came from behind and now leads all Republicans in Iowa. From your signature, and many postings in this forum, it is obvious you support a different candidate. It appears, IMHO, that this thread, "Huckabee is folding like a lawn chair...," is more of a statement of your desire than a statement of fact. Perhaps not everyone finds Mr. Huckabee's stances as objectionable as you. No offense to your opinion is intended.
IMO, as a conservative, I hope those polls and votes in Iowa for the Huckster are a product of anyone being allowed to vote. Iowa is not the end all be all...........and hopefully he'll see a big drop-off after Iowa ala Dean. The Democrats would love a general election against Huckabee. IMO, head to head with Hillary, Huckabee is the only serious Rep. candidate she could beat.
Actually, quite the opposite. Iowa holds a caucus, not a primary. These are the hardcore political voters and don't always reflect the overall population. The polls I've seen with Huckebee surging are taken from likely caucus voters. Most likely it's from the religious right political machine. But he has no shot after Iowa, IMO.
It varies from state to state. I think most states have a closed presidential primary, where you can only vote for the candidate of your registered party. Some state like new Hampshire have a semi-open primary that allows independents to vote, but Dems/Reps must vote for a candidate from their party. National party rules don't allow open presidential primaries, which is why the Louisiana presidential primary is the only closed election we have.
Just so you know i will be voting for Huckabee. You can vote for Hilary or Obama if you want. But i for one would rather vote on Charles Manson than vote on one of those two. I call it the lesser of two evils because all politicians have their issues.
