If you were a Florida fan before the season: - You went & hired the hottest coach on the market (outside of Spurrier). - You have a veteran QB coming into the season. - It was said you had just as much talent as anyone in the country, including USC & Texas. - You were predicted by many to win the SEC and compete for a national championship because of great coaching & superior talent. Enter today. - You hired a coach with a system that has not & may not ever work in the SEC. - You have a veteran QB that looked much better under Zook & might end up leaving early to get out of the system. - Turns out you still had the same problems as before with talent - aka, a lack of players that have produced, despite how many stars they had in high school. - You didn't win the SEC East & aren't close to competing for anything national. In fact, you are only one game better off than last year under Zook. Now, why, you might ask, is this relevent? Well, let's see... Perhaps their expectations were set to high for a first year coach who had never coached in the SEC before. Perhaps the talent level wasn't quite what it was being hyped up to be. Perhaps it takes time for a coach to get his system implemented. Perhaps, the best is yet to come. Now. Reread that last part. Seem firmilar at all? And despite all of these things in common with Meyer, Miles managed to not only win 10 games during the regular season, but also his division.
Florida hired a Shotgun Option coach... his players aren't the type to run that offense, so he had to tweak his offense to fit them and it didn't have wonderful results. Leak is leaving so Meyer will be able to have a mobile QB to run that option the correct way. Miles came into LSU and retained its OC, only added a small amount to the play book and hired a new DC. Big difference in football hurdles having to be jumped in UF.
Not as big as you might think. So they have different systems. They still had to deal with a lack of players that had produced & enormous expectations. Funny how you don't mind excusing other teams' faults... I seem to remember you also backing up Iowa saying their season was acceptable due to blah blah blah. All teams have problems that can be overcome, yet you only excuse other teams & when LSU is involved, it's all the coaches fault.
that wasn't the basis of my posts. I understand Florida had a bigger learning curve. You have yet to comment about big expectations with players who had never produced. You also haven't responded about defending other programs & yet always being negative with ours.
lm not a UF fan... but if i were i would feel great. They lost 3 games, whoopy do. Meyer was playing at a disadvantage with players that weren't his "style". l could care less about florida, therefore l don't know there players that well. l am critical of my coach and players, because i know we can play alot better then we did all year.
What players are you talking about that have NEVER produced?? Sorry bro, but we did not have any of those on offense. Defense on the other hand, you would have an argument, yet they are what got us to 10 wins. Just played like **** last night. Offensive starters Bowe, 2nd in catches last season, most yards Davis, 1st in catches, 2nd in yards Green, ahmm, wtf? Doucet, contributed as a freshman Bennie, been waitin his turn, and stepped up more than any other receiver this season. Addai, been our bread and butter for 3 years now Vincent, 2003 SEC CG and SB MVP Carey, steady 3rd back for 4 years Jamrcus, young, but still plenty of experience in SEC play, just got better. OLINE 4 seniors all started in previous seasons David Jones, started for 3 years production went down as career passed. Sorry man, but I can't find the lack of previous production.
