Saban left then came back a few years later to coach Alabama or someone else in the SEC West. Florida fans are obviously ticked.
I don't know if I'd be ticked. Spurrier has ties with UF were more than just their coach. He was also a Heisman Winning QB, and basically a living legend. CNS is close to that status here but not quite there yet, IMO. Plus...I dont think LSU will make the same mistake in hiring a successor that UF did. I'd be upset, but hopefully Saban's successor will continue his success, so none of us will be ticked.
I think people would be ticked if that happened, no doubt. It would somewhat of a slap in the face if he left LSU directly for another SEC team, any college team really. But if he went to the NFL and than came back it wouldn't seem quite as harsh to me. As long as Nick is coaching in college I hope it is for :lsug:.
I think this is similar to Rick Pitino going from UK to the pros and then to their arch rival Louisville to coach. The only way Florida fans would be more upset is if Spurrier went to Florida St or Miami.
Let me say this... First off UF screwed up by telling Spurrier he had to interview for the job....hhhuuhh??? If Nick Saban left and then wanted to come back I'd hand him the keys before he could change mind. Now I also have to admit I was dead wrong on this. I didn't think Spurrier, who always preached about how he was a Gator through and through, would take a job where he'd have to play and beat UF every year. And now that he has, it just tells me that Foley and the President really pissed him off big time.
My example would be.........................Stoops leaving and then coming back to another Big 12 team. That would probably piss me off. It would be a very *Weird* feeling to say the least.
As I stated in another thread, Gator Fans are jumping out of buildings. Spurrier was going to be the answer to their prayers, the guy who was going to finally take away all their pain. I called a friend of mine (UF Alum) in Jacksonville today and he was really short with me and did not think I was very funny - he was so excited about the return of CSS and he was holding out hope. When I called, he was home from work because he's "sick" - since when can you get "sick" from reading espn.com? He is not taking my calls right now. Spurrier rode into UF on a white horse last week and turned right around and left out on a golf cart. One thing you have to respect about CSS, the man is just one of those people on this earth who does exactly whatever he damn well wants...
another Steve Spurt ier thread :dis: if I were him I'd get some residuals of this crap. I'm gonna laugh when he don't do sh1T LOL
