How many on this site believe Saban will turndown the Dolphins offer?

    Just interested.

I think without question he is gone. The Dolphins job (and the cash) are too much to pass up. Basically Nick will probably get to choose his boss, his salary, all player personnel moves, etc. Full control at the top level of his profession.

My big concern at this point is what type of person can we bring in here that has the same fire and desire that Nick has...people are willing to work and play for someone like Nick if they see results. He is by all accounts a pain to work for and a pain to play for but he brings results.

I think there is a 60% chance that he is gone. As for a new coach, I think Butch Davis would be very good for several reasons. Everyone gives him credit for being a great recruiter based on how many of his Miami recruits were high draft choices. That is a nice track record that can't be disputed. That tells me that he would be able to lock down Louisiana. In addition, he would be able to cherry pick Florida, Texas, and Mississippi for sure. We are fortunate to be the only big time team in Louisiana. Stovall and Arnsbarger proved you can win big by locking down this state. To be a consistant top ten you need to be able to dip into these other states as Saban has done. I hope Butch gives LSU a serious look and vise versa.

I think it says a whole lot that Butch would mention LSU as a place he would like to be. That would have been unlikely pre Saban. It's the price we paid for 14 years of Joe Dean's kmart shopping. Those days are over.. at least for now!

92, Butch Davis just came out yesterday and said he is taking a year off for health reasons. He is out as a possible candidate.

I absolutely do not believe what coaches and AD's and front offices say during the hiring and firing processes. It's a tricky business. It might be true and it might not. Regardless, I want Skip to know what he is thinking. It's foolish for Skip to take Butch's media statement as truth. If he doesn't come so be it. I still think LSU will do fine because we have lots to offer at this point. There are many fantastic coaches out there that will jump in a second. As we know, loyality is not a premium in the coaching ranks. Contracts today mean nothing.

None of us really know where Skip's search will go. When Saban was hired, the first thing I thought of was how bad Dinardo pounded him in the Indy bowl. After hearing Saban's resume later that day I was more positive about the hire. Three games in the guy lost to UAB and I thought we bombed again. We will just have to see what Skip and the TAF do. I think this hire will make or break Skip's AD legacy, so I do not see him going cheap.

    Nobody thinks that.

Saban is to big for college right now. He wants to coach in the NFL, and he's getting the best offer he will ever have from a nice warm place for him to coach (he hates cold weather).

The guy is gone. Stop fantasizing.

I hate to see him leave

I have had someone tell me he is gone . I said no ,then he told me whom he talked to . In 2 or 3 weeks Saban will tell us he is leaving . The Dolphins have to talk with a few of the other coaches. The NFL is making them interview them . It is a done deal he is the Dolphins new coach. I would like to see Jerry come back ,now the big question . Will it hurt the recuriting it is bad timing .

Goner. Good luck trying to beat the best coach in the NFL in your own division. Twice a year at that. Be careful what you wish for.
