i was just in target and they had kisses on sale for $1.88 a bag. they had these gourmet ones with stawberry swirl and toffee with almond. the base of these candies is between a penny and a nickel then it pyramids toward the top. how much crap can they shove in these things. i went with the rich dark chocolate and the double fudge to be safe. and you know what? no matter how much they try to jazz these things up; the best ones are still the originals in the tin foil wrap !
i've been looking forward to those for years. and together you and i have just created them. here they are.......drum roll please.......... haggis kisses by bengal b and snort: Traditional Haggis recipe: 1 sheep's pluck (stomach bag) 2 lb.. dry oatmeal 1 lb. suet 1 lb. lamb's liver 2 1/2 cups stock 1 large chopped onion 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, Jamaica pepper and salt Boil liver and parboil the onion, then mince them together. Lightly brown the oatmeal. Mix all ingredients together. Fill the sheep's pluck with the mixture pressing it down to remove all the air, and sew up securely. Prick the haggis in several places so that it does not burst. Place haggis in boiling water and boil slowly for 4-5 hours. Serves approximately 12. now to make the kisses: puree prepared haggis in a food processor for at least 5 minutes or until texture resembles thin liquid paste. in a double boiler, melt 5-6 pounds of milk chocolate or dark chocolate (your preference). while the chocolate is still hot, fold it into the haggis paste. using a teaspoon, drop globs of the liquid chocolate haggis onto wax paper. put in the fridge for at least 2-4 hours and then enjoy ! bon appetite..
What I've always wondered is wht they've never come out with a Reese's kiss? Seem like a natural to me.
