I mentioned it last week, I don't think we've run a decent screen pass play since Skyler Green was here. No idea why it always flops. Always 1 or more of the requirements are broken down completely.
Going from weak armed Jennings to strong-armed Harris is an adjustment too. Harris probably needs to take a little bit of the pepper off the ball. Part of his throwing errors, aside from timing, is just throwing the ball too damn hard.
I think we'll be in good shape by the time we get into the meat of the SEC schedule. We have a couple of non-conference games coming up to work on the passing game the next 2 weeks.
It will definitely require a little work against the soft part of the schedule. Can't wait until the big games to work on it.
and THIS is where the frustrations are going to resurface because history says we will NOT use these games to work on any of the things we need to work on. Time will tell.
At some point this season we are going to have to rely on the pass to win us a game. If Fournette wasn't on anyone's radar and I'm sure he was, he damn sure is now. Every team from here on out is going to dare us to throw the ball. I'm an opposing coach all I care about doing is slowing down the run. The game plan should be force LSU to beat you in the air. If LSU can at least force defenses to RESPECT the pass, this team could be in the final 4 and maybe win it all.
Lets not go turning him into Jay Cutler just yet. I think those two passes before the end of the half were the worst I've ever seen from him. Not sure what was in his head but he usually doesn't miss that badly. The rope he threw to Dupree on the out route was a thing of beauty. Too bad Dupe couldn't hang on to it, it was there, it was on time and very catch-able.
