That game right there showed just how important free throws can be...They shot a better FG % than we did, had one more rebound than we did, and one more assist than we did. If we weren't such a great FT shooting team, we wouldn't have one that game... Good defense, overall, IMO too...
You wanna talk about FT importance. If LSU hits em against Arky, they would prolly be 16-7 right now.
I've always said that free throw shooting is what separates the Dukes, UNCs, Kansas, Kentuckys, et. al, from the good but not great teams. Every one of these programs usually puts 5 guys on the floor at any given time who can pop 70% or better from the stripe. It's something every program should strive for.
Last year many fans were criticizing the coaches because the team was not making their freethrows. They implied that the team was not praciticing free throws enough. Well apparantly Brady listened because the problem appears to be corrected.
well, there's a big difference when you replace jaime lloreda (about 60%) with Glenn Davis (75%). lloreda used to get to the line 8-10 times a game and hit little more than half. although everyone is shooting better FTs this year, esp the guards, the absence of lloreda is the main difference in the improved free throwing.
It's so important to have 2 big men who touch the ball on about 75% of the possessions who can make foul shots and it was proven today. It is also important to note that we beat UF on points after tunrovers 13-10, Tack has improved his game a lot and played under control.
